Hey guys ive searched and searched but i cant seem to find out where the cooling fan timer is on my '91. The problem is the fan turns on and stay on after i pull my key out of the ignition, i dont even have to turn the car on for this to happen. But the end result is a dead battery. But anyway, from what ive read its a small black box under the dash. I see two small black boxes, one just above the fuse area, and one on the other side toward the center of the dash. Ive checked online and even called my local Auto Parts store to get a replacement and to figure which it is but they dont have anything of the sort so im confused

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Cooling fan problem

I'm having a cooling fan problem myself, only my fans don't turn on unless I run my A/C and it never comes on after I turn the car off.
Not sure about under the dash, but under the hood near windsheild, passenger side, there is a black fuse box. Open that up and you'll see the fuse for the fans and a relay for the fans. I imagine your fuse is good as the fan turns on, but your relay could be damaged.
You will see the fan relay and the power window relay side by side. They are the same relay so to see if that is the problem just switch relays. Your power windows should still work, as your fan. Maybe it will shut off.
If not the relay there are 2 temperature switches that sit in the coolent on the motor. One on the motor where the coolent line goes out to the rad in front of the distributor, and the other down low where the coolent returns from the rad. One switch turns on the fan after the ignition is shut off for one minute, the other switch turns on the fans as you are driving at low speed when the temp goes up.
I just bought both switches but I forget which one is what.
Part number for your switch is either TS187 or TS254. Maybe it is faulty and turning on the fan but not shutting it off.
I'm still troubleshooting mine so not sure if I nailed it yet. Switch is about $40.

the two black boxes he was referring to are the timers for the cooling system . when they fail some will keep the fans on till the battery dies or not come on at all . and yes op they are above the fuses box by the kick panel .Originally posted by 91CB7Leo View PostThanks for clearing it up, i guess ill have to try the dealer or the junkyard for the parts thoughLast edited by Accord problems; 05-21-2013, 10:19 PM.this was put together by evil_demon_01 .
