So my car is a manual and I went to the junkyard to find a VSS for my car. I believe the VSS I pulled at the junkyard was out of an auto tansmission. I don't think it matters but my dad asked me if it mattered. So I was wondering does it matter if its auto or manual VSS does it matter? Or is it the same?

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Just the sensor or the whole mechanism all the way down into the transmission?
I can pull one from each and compare. I'm pretty sure the sensor is the same but the gear end might be different. I'm not around a parts catalog to compare part numbers though.1993 SE Coupe MRT - 1992 LX Sedan MRT

Yes the sensor is universal. It has a plug on top and bolts holding it to the rest of the mechanism. It is universal between A/T and M/T and not only that but the 9293 version fits on preludes, accords, civics, and a ton of other Hondas.

92-93 looks like this^

90-91 looks like this^
So it is more year specific than A/T or M/T specific for as far as the sensor itself goes.
Yes, but the other way around the harness might not reach. Using a 9091 harness on a 9293 sensor might be a real stretch unless you modify the wiring loom a bit.Originally posted by domesticated View PostI plugged my 93 auto harness into a 91 manual sensor when I went 5 speed. 5k miles and no problems yet.Last edited by wildBill83; 07-14-2013, 08:51 PM.1993 SE Coupe MRT - 1992 LX Sedan MRT
