ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    timing issues

So I have spend a week now attempting to get my accord timed ríght no matter what I do it still seems to run like crap I cannot get the balancer pulley off in order to see if there are marks to be lined up for the crank timing so I have been doing it the old fashioned way with a screwdriver in cyl 1 and watch it go up then I line up the marks on the cam slap the belt back on and try it never seems quite right runs really rough and has no power never purrs... looking on the web I found someone talking about being able to use the timing marks in the inspection window for the tranny when I pull out the little rubber plug I can see the flywheel on the engine side of the window there is a nub that looks like as to line something up with on when I turned the motor to tdc there are three littke marks on the flywheel ( , / , this is xort of what they look like but theyre straight ) the are realy close to the nub I mentioned it looks like if I bring the crack to perfect tdc they would line up great after doing so I looked at the cam again and its slightly off a tooth or so does anyone know if I can use these marks as tdc marks to get the timing right on and after just adjust the cam and it ahould run good? Any help appreciated this has been a nightmare for me and its our familys only car.. thank you

    I'll try to help you

I just went through this with my 92 Accord. As far as removing the pulley you can rent the tool from O Reily's for $50 buck and get your money back when you return it. I used a deep socket 19 1/2 drive 3 ft of extensions, a Harbor freight 1/2 breaker bar and 5 feet of a fencing. When the tool wasn't available and I had to work on it I used a big pair of vice grips and locked them on the pulley. I took it off this way and tightened the bolt. Next on the crank timing make sure you're looking at the TDC mark and not the mark for ignition timing. Next was my error, remove the valve cover and use the inside of the cam gear not the outside. If you need more help I'll be watching the post.

Belive it or not, there are two crank pulley tools. One for early Hondas and one for later ones. Get the right one.

Using the flywheel for timing can be done, but can be tricky.

There are the removal tools that look similar to bicycle chains that you wrap around the pullet itself but be careful those can bit into the pulley and damage it a little bit. If you completely remove all gears that hold the crank pulley in place u will see little arrows marked into the block. If I remember correctly that arrow is suppose to live up with the woodruff key. Its been a while so don't mark my words. There are arrowns on the block for sure though

Oh yes and you can also use a dremel from like walmart, cost$40, to cut out a little square from your block above where it says F22AX and look for timing marks on the flywheel. Hope that helps!!
