ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Bouncing/high idle

Ok trying to get more insight. 1992 honda accord LX 238k miles, 5 Speed. Was having a problem with bouncing idle. Here's what I've done.

    Replaced IAC
Sprayed carb cleaner all around the vac lines and it never changed a pitch.
    Cleaned throttle body
Cleaned FITV and adjusted the wax thing inside down
    Burped coolant
    Replaced TPS
    Air booster blocked off
    Adjusted timing
Adjusted base idle, well tried. Let me explain. According to research when doing this I'm supposed to idle car to temp, fans cycle twice, unplug IAC and adjust the screw on TB til idle comes down to 800, but it never really goes that low. With IAC unplugged it just kinda sputters around 1500, never dies tho. And changing the screw makes no change in idle. *does this straight up indicate vac leak?*

When adjusting the TPS idle gets steady at 3000 with no surge. Tried to adjust timing while idle high but soon as I start turning the distributor it'll surge again.

So I'm stuck. Either idle at 3000 or bounce from 1000 to 1500
Also, my brakes tend to get a little soft when it reaches the high idle point.

At one point I bypassed ecu wit a little jumper and got codes 14, 3, 5, 7, since doing all this and having to reset the ecu no codes. When I bypass ecu to try to pull codes, now engine light just stays on solid.

    Thermostat? Bad FITV?

Personally, it sounds like a vac leak or a bad fitv. There is a couple videos online on how to fix a bad fitv. Basically you just take it out and clean it piece by piece. It's a free thing you can try for like 30~ minutes of your time. Hope this helps!

There is an o-ring on the yellow plunger in the FITV that gets hard and winds up leaking. This link (in the DIY section) shows how to disassemble the valve and replace it.

I have disassembled and cleaned but haven't replaced the O-ring. Also, the bottom piece on mine I can't seem to get off.

Unless the bottom (where the coolant runs) is leaking, I would leave it alone. I took it apart in the thread for completeness, but it won't leak air into the plenum contributing to a high idle.

Did you end up finding out what the issue was?

Like fleetw00d said, it might be the FITV. There are a few O-Rings in there that are gonna be 20 something years old.
They will be hard, brittle, & letting air pass through when the plunger is trying to stay closed shut.
I cannot remember what site I found it but, I actually found an aftermarket FITV (brand new) for a decent price & was plug & play basically.
Either replace those O-Rings or try & find a new one maybe. I will try to find the site I got mine from..
                Keep Pushing..
