ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Cooling Fan won't turn on and MORE!

This whole Cooling system is making me rip my hair out.
The cooling fan won't turn on while the car is running.
But when i turn the key to off i hear the fan turn on.

I don't know if this is a common problem but i've been trying to figure this out for over a year now.

I've tested the Fan motor and relay. Ive replaced both Fan Temperature switches.
Thermostat was replaced about a month ago. Coolent levels are fine and burped the system.

The only thing I could think of is the Fan Timer Control Module.
I can't find one by application at work. So I had to find one from a junkyard about a year ago.

On a side note with something else.

I'm getting oil on top on my spark plugs. Ive done the complete valve cover gasket job. I replaced the little O rings that are under the rocker arms.

It fixed the Problem for a day or two. But oil started to leak back on the plugs again.
I could't find the torque specs for the rocker arm bolts in the repair manual and kind of found a thread on the Honda forums.
They said "10lb for the 12mm bolts and 9lb for 10mm blots"

I have no idea if this is correct or not, but I'm starting to believe that its not OR i fucked up something.

Did the fan timer control module do the trick?

The torque specs sound about right. If you have the non-vtec head which sounds like you do, you should replace both upper and lower valve cover seals and when doing so, make sure the surfaces are perfectly clean. I usually spray wash them with brake disc cleaner and apply a bit of fresh motor oil on the new seals. That way you will be able to get them off in one piece when the next change will come and the oil actually helps it seal and does not let it become hard.

On the CB7's that I had, every one had a bad connection to the fan switch on the water outlet. Check that?

Is the car overheating when running? It only turns the fans on when necessary.

Not while the car is moving. Only when it sits for a long time like being at a stop light for 2 cycles or a long line at the drive threw. It could be the Wire harness.

Did the timer control solve the issue? I'm going thru the same thing with my CB9.
