ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Buying your first 4th gen accords

What are things to look for? Anything specific? I will be looking into one soon possibly. To be specific, a EX 5 speed. Probably a 4 door.

Try to look for one without the quarter panel rust because as we all know CB's are very notorious for that. Check the condition of the spark plugs, color of the antifreeze. Is also a good idea to Carfax the vin # for any reported accident. I'm sure there's a million thing to check for and many other members will post some up. Haven't slept in a while so this is all I can think of right now

        Rust is a main thing...

A CB7 is no different than any other car when you're buying... check for the normal stuff (look for oil on and around the engine, check for black soot above the exhaust on the bumper... rub your finger and you'll see what I'm talking about).

As long as the rust isn't there, and the engine is below 200k, you should be money though.

of course check all the normal stuff like the brakes, clutch, suspension, windows, locks etc... as far as cb7 specific things check for rust, a leaking trunk (water often builds up under the two sides of the carpet below the tail lights)...

i would check under the hood for any spots taht are extra clean compared to other parts, especialy around engine and such to see if anything is leaking. definately try to get one without quarter rust like pocb7 said unless you can replace them fairly easy. i would ask them to start it and see if any irregular smoke comes out of the pipes(blue, black, white, etc.) or if there are any holes in exhaust. see waht mileage is on the engine and trans and see how well it runs, unless you are going to do a swap like an h22 or whatever. see if any lights are on dash like CEL or waht not. depending on mileage see if they have changed waterpump or timing belt at regular times and if it needs to be done. i would make sure all electric things work such as windows, mirrors if they are power, lights and everything. that is about all i can think of(prob much more but i cant think of anymore), hope this helps and good luck on your search

Shoddly bondoed rust over teh rear quarter panels, power windows that dont roll up would be the main things.

How can you tell if a part of the car was bonooed. I would be furious if I found out after the fact.

Hold a magnet to the quarters. If the magnet sticks, its metal, if it doesn't, its bondo.

what can you do to fix the leaking in the trunk. it hardly rains here and i barely wash my car... the only time ive ever see where the water is coming in is when i open my trunk after washing or rain and its still sitting on it.

i can fab up pretty much nething i need to make it water tight in there. whre are the common spots it leaks from?

i'd say check the weather stripping around the trunk lid and your tail lights as those would probably be the most obvious areas to leak at.
