ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    bouncing idle

ok so yea at idle my rpms bounce and cylinders one and two do not fire despite having gas and spark. the car is a 92 accord with a 99 h22a4 swap. i am running a p13 ecu, as well as obd1 injectors. it has a 98 dizzy atm but i am getting an obd1 hooked up. could that be the cause?? the car performs perfect at high rpm so i tend to think its not a mechanical problem but i am stumped.

how do you know the cylinders aren't firing? did you check your dizzy cap?

In my experience...the bouncy rpms are caused mostly by 3 things...'

low coolant level, and or a bad thermostat, OR a bad sensor in the thermostat housing. I think it is called a thermo fast idle sensor. but don't quote me on that.

also vacuum leaks can cause a ROUGH idle.

as for the cylinders not firing....check your plugs, wires and dizzy cap?

getting spark and fuel to the cylinder, dizzy is good, just obd2... this happened with the last engine i had in there so it makes me think its not mechanical and i just find it hard to believe the fitv on both cars was messed up... the engine before started doing this sometime after i replaced the dizzy. i cant remember if it happened right after that or what as this was a while ago.

        You need an obd1 distributor/ecu...

i have an obd1 ecu and i am getting the obd1 dizzy wired up... i was just wondering if the dizzy is actually causing the problem.

yea the obd1 distributor did nothing so i sent it back, but the bouncing idle stopped after it was driven about 30 miles... it is still missing at idle... cant hear it very well when in drive as my exhaust is kinda loud. but it feels like it is hitting on all cylinders. the spark is good and their is gas, i just dont know why it wants to miss... any help guys???

              Igniter?

This issue sounds like it has something to do with your igniter, when they start going bad its intermittent, and that would explain why your tach shows bouncing rpm's. Thats my .02

no more bouncing rpms... cylinders one and two not firing the injectors are brand new and the resistor box is new and the spark plugs are new and the dizzy is somewhat new the wires are semi new and there is spark and there is fuel just no fire on one and two at idle.

                  Air, Fuel, and Spark

You say you have spark, and fuel, then the only thing left to check is your air intake. If for whatever reason cylinder 1 & 2 aren't recieving their air charge at idle, then you wouldn't have combustion in those two cylinders.

Personally i'd check your ignition timing, just because you have spark, doesn't mean its sparking at the proper time for combustion.

SUMMONING ALL HONDA GURU'S (A bright spotlight shines on the clouds, with the shadow of a honda symbol in the middle) If its his igniter thats going bad isn't there a way he could possibly swap his igniters firing order so that he can have the igniter on cylinder 1&2 fire cylinder 3&4, and vice versa, and then see if his problem switches over to cylinders 3&4?
