ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Well something like that. Facing the car, the fan on the left is for the engine, and the fan on the right is for the radiator...

The Left fan is A/C the right fan is the radiator.

Do both fans run when you turn the A/C on?

Both fans should turn on with the A/C Running. Passenger side fan is the main fan, driver side is the condensor fan. Easier for people to understand when you say driver/passenger rather than right or left because those are relative to perspective.

If it jumped straight up to full hot on the guage when you switched the ignition on, and there was no chance that there was any heat in the motor then the guage sender unit is grounding straight to earth, or there is an earthing short circuit in the wire from the guage to the sender unit.

It doesn't sound like the same problem at all. It may be fan related (i.e. fan not working, or coming on at too high a temp), but if it isn't then my bet is that your radiator is failing to radiate adequately. This could be from:

Internal scale build up in the rad

'Fin rot', the thin metal fins (black painted copper or bare aluminium) on the outside of the rad are slowly oxidising away, though it may not easily be visible because the black paint often holds it together, until you touch it and they crumble

The front of the rad could be blocked with debris impeding air flow through the core. This could also be debris in front of the air con radiator, blocking flow to the coolant rad behind.

To check if the problem is simply the rad not radding properly, try switching on the heater a fan when it gets hotter, the temp should drop.

                              John.
