ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I have seen a couple past 400,000. And one at a dealer with over 500,000. Engines can last forever with the proper maintainance. Eventually they all need a rebuild, but they can still go and go and go.

well you should never run low on oil, thats asking for trouble. But once everything's up to temp. and the car's all warmed up, its safe to, lol, "beat" on it i guess. That's the only time I ever really push my car, when its all warmed up and at normal temp. If you do it before that, then you're causing premature engine wear so that'll shorten the life of the engine for sure.

These motors from my experience servicing 6 of them in my family (2 are mine) can hit the 250,000 miles mark with no major problems. We have one that's at the 350,XXX mile mark and shows no signs of dying, motor runs strong. My red has 258K miles. My white had 180K miles before I turned it into performance setup. My little sister has 170K miles on hers. My oldest sister by now has close to 275K miles (rebuilt auto trans @ 250K however), mother had 146K miles on hers, until her front balance shaft seal walked out and car needed a rebuilt motor. My father assumed front balance shaft seal retainer to be installed by previous owner (friend of his) at this car's 100K miles mark, he bought my mother's car with 120K miles so Tbelt job was done already.

Prevent it from overheating coolant or motor oil wise, change motor oil respectively are key. I change every 3000-5000 miles for city or every 5000-7500 miles for highway. Stay away from FRAM oil filters (bad design) and Purolator PureONE (lowers oil psi). A 50/50 mix of coolant is good for our U.S. environments.

Also, install that front balance shaft seal retainer (metal plate) or suffer my mother's engine problems. Balance shafts seized up and needed new/rebuilt motor. Should have been done at first timing belt change, IF the person was knowledgeable of these motors or done at Honda dealer (common practice).

My services included (stock or near stock form):

                          - change air filter every 15,000 miles
                          - replace NGK copper plugs every 20,000 miles
                          - replace spark plug wires every 50,000 miles
                          - replace distributor cap & rotor with plugs (20,000 miles)
                          - valve lash adjustment every 20,000 miles
                          - replace fuel filter every 60,000 miles
                          - coolant change every 30,000 miles
                          - manual tranny fluid change every 50,000 miles
                          - automatic tranny fluid change every 30,000 miles

in the shop, we had a "regular" come in and get his oil and air filter changed at always exactly 3000 miles. the cool thing was last time i check it was 534,000 miles. Honda's where built the way Henry Ford originally based his ford company around (but not these days), that building a cheap but reliable vehicle is always a good thing.

280*** and still running like a champ. I beat on her every now and again (road rage, I hear you guys), but I also keep on top of the fluids and whatnot. looks like you've taken good care of your engine, so it should have a lot of life left
