    starting body work

    http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...&threadid=8322

that is the damage in my car.
now how much paint would i need to pain that part of the car over????
where can i buy some spray paint with the colour code of my car????
i looked at autozone but they only had duplicolur but without a colour code???

and what kind of sanding paper should i use to take the pain and the rust where i did the weldling on the car?
i have these sand papers 100 300 600 800 at my house. i also have the airplane pain remover....

and what kind of product should i use for the rust prevention before i paint the spots... i saw a can at autozone but i was wondering if there are any other product out there......

and wtb the clear coat. it seems that i can't find any kind of clear coat anywhere.

i am doing this while i am fixing my mufler over the next weekend and i would appriciate some help since i am new to the body work on the cb7..
    thanks

if you plan on going ahead with this project, autozone would be the last place to get the proper materials for this fix-up. you would have to locate an auto-body retail shop where you can have factory-matched paint made to be used in an aerosol spray can. you'll also find the correct grades of sandpaper, and rust prevention products used by most body shops.

where u at in philly? cause I know some people ...it sucks that i moved away because we do paint and body work

For everybody's sake I'm going to WalMart TODAY to get this roll of film done that has all the pics from our prep work on the 98 accord - maybe someone can sticky it or something --

how deep is the rust? because where it is -- body filler isn't going to last long if you plan on still using that door - you'll prob have to replace the panel (IMO)

If you want to do it right, it's gonna take a lot more than something from autozone to fix

your color code can be found on the driver's side door frame/ post -- there's a sticker right under the hook where your door latches

anyway... i just want to let you know i'm gonna get back to you with some better details on how do the work right, hopefully with pictures

meanwhile - this post i left for a girl on automotive forums should help you out - at least with prep work:Priming the car that takes it up through priming - which is all she wanted to do -- I leaving you this link because I'm not sure if you just want to fix that area or repaint your whole car (personally i'd just do the whole car while i was at it) meanwhile I'm gonna go take these pictures in

let me know where you are in/around philly - i'll see if I know of any shops closeby that could hook you up with what you need

try rust converter first -- which you CAN get at pepBoys/autozone/etc...

if there are holes in the rust or if the metal starts flaking -- its a bigger problem

you can also try grinding down the rust - but the converter will be your best bet to start off

well if u see the pic there are no holes because we had to weld.
i have seen what u are talking about. since i am gona use sand paper to blast the rust off. i was looking for some product that i can spray before i spray the primer so rust don't return.

Hey luvmyGen4, know any good body shops around the West Chester area? I need to get rear quarter panels welded in shortly, and I dont know if I'm going to trust my buddy to do it, I think I'd rather have someone with lots of experience..

i am just repaintng that part that u see on the pic where the rust is. i might try some bondo<a onMouseOver="window.status='' ; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status='';" oncontextmenu="window.status=''; return true;" onclick="location.href='http://www.enhancemysearch.com/admin/results.php?q=work&id=4';return false;" href="" TITLE="More Info..."> work </a>to make it look a little the place next to the door where it got bent a little bit.

i am using spray paint like the white duply color frost white.
the thing is that empera(member here) told me about a place in north philly where i can find some pain. i am gona go and check it out to see if i can find some paint with the colour code of my car(spray paint)
but for now i iplan on using the frost white dupli colour frost white that accordtunex used when he did his diy. its says car paint but it don't give a colur code so i don't know.
                      let me know.

Let me call some people... my main contact is near Levittown (that's in the northeast, but not too hard a drive from west chester) I'd probably have a paint hookup for you - but I'll have to ask around for body work [and don't worry because I'm not into dealing with shady bastards - I'd help you with the work myself were i still in PA)

p.s. if you're just using spray paint -- youre gonna start having problems again because spray paint...welll... it's spray paint bbut the best way to prevent rust is to sand down to bare metal (get all the rust off) then seal the surface with some sort of epoxy primer-sealer then prime then paint then clear... that's the cliff notes' cliff notes version ... check out that link i posted before if you want more detail

but at the very least, sanding/grinding down ALL the rust to BARE metal and spraying some kind of paint over it will help you
