Someone made a diy on carpet dying. Used a kiddie pool and a lot of rit dye.

then i see my baby, suddenly I'm not crazy,

A dashmat might be small enough to dye it in the washing machine using Rit. Thats how I would do it.

Lol, yeah. Rit is primarily used for clothing so the instructions say use the washing machine because of the convenience and easy clean up. Plus you have to use blazing hot water in the process of dying and using the washer is ideal for that shit.

I used Duplicolor vinyl and fabric satin black on my door panels and I think it turned out very well.

Here is the best picture I have. They were maroon before.

That looks nice! Did you just spray it or take it apart and recover anything?

I'm considering picking up some of that in the Desert Sand color.

Painted door panels always look great in pictures but crap in person, theres always dust in them, runs and they're just too shiny and the wrong texture.

Anywho OP isn't painting a dash from tan to black, Theres no such thing as a tan cb7 dash anyways. Hes asking how to dye one of those little rugs that you put on your dash.

I pulled the fabric from the center and cleaned off the glue residue, then painted everything including the carpet at the bottom. The only thing I recovered was the speaker grill.

Tippey, I'll get more pictures for you later.
No runs at all, I used satin black so no shine, no texture change, looks and feels OEM. The carpet isn't even crunchy like when people usually dye/paint carpet.

I had my doubts too, but I couldn't stand the maroon any longer so I went on a limb and tried it. I'm happy with it.

I have tan interior already so the desert sand will match nicely I hope. Thanks for the response, I would also be interested in close up photos.

Okay so the RIT mabe in my washing machine ... I was only wanting to do this because at my local pull yard all the carpets that arnt formed are on the ground under the cars and as you can tell are trash by that point ..... I wasn't thinking the RIT would work because I'm using it on something with a acrylic color so yeah let me know thanks
