    body work on coupe

i started doing body work on my coupe on rear quarter panel on driver side, it started a slight crack... i wet sanded it down and slightly filled it in .. now it keeps slightly cracking .. anyone know how to fix this ? im thinking of geting somthing thicker but i dont know if that would help... this is the only thing thats stoping me of sparying my car

Don't use bondo, get body work tools and pullit/bent it correctly. Thick layers of filler will crack. The only real way to use bondo would be to layer it, letting each layer dry between applications and don't apply during temp changes or high humidity.

Bondo doesn't fix rust, welding does.

Then you don't have any interest in doing it right. Your car will continue to rust and get worse. You could fix it now while it's easy, or you can allow it to get bad enough that the car becomes impractical to fix.

^^^Jarrett is correct. You basically have 2 or 3 options. One- cut out the rust and weld in a patch panel. A very thin layer of filler will be needed to finish properly (meaning less than 1/8"). Two- cut out the complete panel and weld in another panel. If the rust is becoming bad, this is the better option. Three- just keep patching it and the underneath damage will eventually become unreliable. Do you have pictures?

Looks like you replied at same time i did. Do you have a picture of it? Maybe we can give you a tip?

Bondo is used to fill in dents, not rust, not cracks, not holes..

Just because you weren't given the answer that you were hoping for or one that fits your wallet doesn't make the ones you were given incorrect.
