    cb5 side skirts on a cb7

im sorry if i posted this in the wrong spot but i have a question about putting cd5 sideskirts on my cb. i know they dont slide right on. one of the guys i know said to put them over the stock ones and cut the end and us the mud flap to cover the cut off part. im kinda iffy on that but i was looking at them and if i cut off enough of the piece that slides on to the clip so there more lower profile like the cbs one they should just fit up right??? i posted three pics there the cb5 side skirt a pic of the clip and the inside.

the brackets on the cd5 sideskirt do not line up properly with the holes on the rocker panel of the cb7
you would need to cut each bracket and reglue/weld them a few centimeters aside from where they used to be in order to fit the skirt the way you want

gut inside. remove the brackets. cut a slot in the cb7 rocker panel to slide the cd5 into. use the mudflap to support and cover the cut. install cd5 rocker panel over cb7 rocker panel (it should wrap over the cb7 because youve gutted it at this point). put a screw in the backside (rear wheelwell area) and use those oem screw brackets for the front. install it like aftermarket sideskirts and youll be good. see my later photos for fitment and slick_nine, we both successfully did it already

I too just bought some of these. I believe it was P5ylance photo that inspired me long ago on these. I always wondered how they got the flare to stick out in the back when normally it doesn't do this as much. Last weekend I searched for a couple hours through old threads on how to do this. None of them had pictures anymore, but a lot of instructions. Figured I'd eventually just go out side and see what happens and follow what P5ylance said to do.

"gut inside. remove the brackets. cut a slot in the cb7 rocker panel to slide the cd5 into. use the mudflap to support and cover the cut. install cd5 rocker panel over cb7 rocker panel (it should wrap over the cb7 because youve gutted it at this point). put a screw in the backside (rear wheelwell area) and use those oem screw brackets for the front. install it like aftermarket sideskirts and youll be good. "

If someone does do these instructions please take pictures and write a new DIY. The old one is outdated and has lost its pictures.

awesome! ^thanks for doing that! when I get my new ones on, I'll also post on your DIY how I did the front area (under the mudflap) as well, for some added support.
