    Fluid Film

If anyone is interested in trying out Fluid Film and has seen the link at http://www.eurekafluidfilm.com/appli...utomotive.html, just write to me at dwilliams@eurekafluidfilm.com and I will send you a free sample can. There is no obligation and no one will contact you further. It is just an easy way to help introduce new users to the product. We will ship samples anywhere in the Continental United States.
As far as the effect on rubber is concerned, the Department of the Navy in Pensacola Florida did tests on three different types of o-rings (petroleum hydraulic resistant, synthetic lub oil resistant, and petroleum hydraulic fluid resistant and found that after 168 hours at room temperature, microscopic evaluation indicated no physical deterioration of the o-rings.
There is no better product to prevent or stop rust on the market. We are confident enough in our product to offer free samples. The proof is in the pudding.

From the FAQ on the website I found:

      --------------------------------------
Will Fluid FilmŪ adversely affect plastic or rubber?
No, Fluid FilmŪ has no adverse effects on plastics or synthetic rubber. On 100% natural rubber, some swelling can occur.
      --------------------------------------

Is the rubber trim on the inner wheel wells natural or synthetic?

well after spending over 3000 to get new rear quarterpanels and custom molded wheel wells.....wash every week. wax, polish u know the drill....spray under the car and always check for even the littlest sign of rust then get rid of it.!!!!

Can untreated quarter panel rust affect the stability of the frame ? My rust is pretty bad on the right side quarter panel.

              ^^I dont think it should.
Your Suspension and the Frame of the car is what
keeps the stability of teh car. Quarter panels have nothing to do with it.

I gotta run back to the shop. Some of my undercoating shipped off on the edge of the inner lip, so I have a small spot developing.

I'm gonna get the looked at and I'll probably oil my other side tomorrow or maybe next week if it warms up.

Hope you can get that looked at.
Ask your shop for some tips....

They just said to oil them. I also emailed that fluid film guy. I'm gonna park the car for the winter hopefully. If I can get to Dec 22 without seeing any salt, I'm home free. I'll just wash it and park it. As long as I can get 2-3 decent years with it, I'll be pumped.

Well, I just threw a quart of 40 wt oil at my rear wheel arches. Let's see what happens with that. I'll probably do it again before I go back to school...what I messy job.

That guy should be able to hook you up with the Fluid Film. I received my can awhile back--and its gone. Very good stuff so far. I wanted to use it since I had the rust removed from the panel and the front of the rear wheel well on the same side. Had new undercoating sprayed where that work was done already.

I have used it under on the metal lip in the rear wheel wells (then put the rubber back on--if its bad get new rubber).

I have also sprayed the product behind where the rust was removed/repaired, behind the trunk lining. Also sprayed behind where the rubber ends in the wheel weel and where the rocker moulding ends since thats also where I had rust before---to slow it down big time from coming back---or so I hope. Definately last far better than silicone or wd-40 which dries out before it can do anything preventive.

You liked the FluidFilm? I should be getting my can sometime soon. Did you have enough product to cover the wheel wells?

Yes there is enough product to cover the wheel well lip. I wouldn't recommend it on the undercoating in the wheel well if you recently had them resprayed as it may make the coating more tender than it needs to be--from what I heard. I also have heard it works well as undercoating coverage for approx 1 yr (depends on driving conditions).

Yes so far I like the product. It isn't widely known in the automotive industry. I have also used it on battery terminals, door/truck/hood latches, inside of trunk--behind fixed rust spot, quarter panel/trunk floor--moisture protection--spare wheel well.
Its safter on painted surfaces/rubber/plastic then silicone and wd-40. Both of which dry quick---good for initial use to immediately work on something, but not good for long-term protection. You'll note it smells much different than anything else and since its based from lanolin (wool wax) it can condition things--so its not as bad if it gets on your skin. Also, remember it stay wet (hence above) for quite sometime.

Actually there are other products as well that last longer than wd-40, i just happened to stumble across this one from an Acura Vigor Club online where someone used it to rustproof their Vigor. All the details on the product can be found on their website listed elsewhere in this thread.
