the little chrome piece on the bottom, pull it towards the bottom of the car... and then once you do that... just twist the knob counter clockwise till it comes off

I could figure it out at first. When you turn the knob, the boot turns with it. So i just removed the whole center console and took off the 2 screws holding the boot down and pulled it off. I see now that the knob clips into the boot and you can just try to pull it down really hard.

If you grab it right around the chrome piece you can feel the plastic collar...grab a hold of that and pull down...it won't come off all that easy, at least not the first time.
