    reconditioning glass headlights

I've been reading a lot of things about polishing headlights, restoring them, etc. But they all seem to be for plastic headlights. I have tried several different posishes on my glass headlights and they don't seem to work very well. Its like the actual glass is deeply scratched from rocks, and debris. I'm just wondering if there is maybe a way to sand these imperfections out, and polish them. If anybody has had success restoring you're cb headlights don't hesitate to post. Thanks!!

I don't think it can be done. When mine Get shitty I replace them. I've tried and never been successful.

    But I'm open to suggestions.

do you usually just replace the whole headlamp? or just the glass? if so where can you get the glass?

I've heard of several people saying that they wet sanded their lights, then polished them. I just think that this would only work with plastic lights. I'm just hoping that somebody has had success with this.

Glass is harder and more expensive to polish. You can get a cheap set on ebay.

I just get the headlight assembly from rock auto for like $50 a side or something like that.
Or you could get some plastic ones and polish them when they get bad.

the only way to successfully polish the glass headlights is to get a glass polishing kit. they are pretty pricey though, but once you have a kit you can do your windows/windshield ect. with them. you can find glass polishing kits on eastwood.com. later.

They have two kits, one for scratches that can't be felt with a fingernail and one for deeper scratches. I have used the former to save several windshields; it works well on plastic headlight and turn singal lenses as well. I have used only about 1/3 of my polishing compound.

has anybody used this on the headlights. Mine have some pits in them and I would like to make sure this will work. Before attempting it. Price is not really the concern. My concern would be wasting a day and it not looking any better.

I used mine to clean up some of my headlights, but it won't remove pits. The heavy duty kit from Eastwood might. Kit is about $50 I think.
