    Budget retrofit

So it's been a long while since I've been on here. First time back actually owning a CB. I recently started my budget retrofit with mostly junkyard parts and retrofit source closeout parts and b stock parts.

So it started when I scored a set of factory d2s headlights from an Audi S4 from the pick and pull.

Then not pictured were discount d2s ballasts, bulbs, clear lenses, and shrouds from TRS.

And lastly the final piece to be able to start was getting a spare set of headlights. Pullapart delivered with a cb that had obviously been repaired recently leading to me getting an almost brand new set of headlights.

    So then progress began.

    Trimmed the projectors up.

Fitted them in the low beam.

Some jb weld later and some shroud trimming and one side is done.
    Stock vs. modified.

So I have a couple new parts to order. Big fail happened on light number two.

I pried a little bit too hard.

I haven't attempted the projector retro fit but have read a little on them sometime long ago.

I believe you are meant to put the head lights in the oven.

I can't remember the temperature, how long and if pre heated (which I think it was).

This softens the adhesive seal and allows you to pry with little to no risk of damaging the glass which happened in your case.

Someone may chime in on this tip and the exact heating temp and time needed.

In the mean time you can do your own search.

This is about my 10th retrofit. Yes I know you can use an oven, but heat guns work too. I just didn't heat it long enough obviously. The first lense came apart with ease but I also heated it longer. The oven I don't really like to use if I don't have too because of the smell.

I'm going to purchase another driver side light off of eBay to steal the front lense off of though and it'll be all good.
