    Random Antenna Question

I was cleaning my car yesterday and I found the wire that used to go to the car phone that the previous own had in it. When I got the car the phone had been removed, but I still have the antenna and wire. My question is, is there any way I could use this wire as my radio antenna rather than the stock unit. My antenna in my car has been replaced by a non power unit, and the reception is dismal at best, so I was thinking about shaving it when I get the car resprayed...would I be able to splice in an adapter to make the mobile phone antenna fuction as a radio antenna. I know this is most likely a really stupid question, but I figured someone might know.

    1. Probably no. Antenna length varies based upon what frequency range you're transmitting/recieving. If you notice, all stock car antennas are very tall. That's because the wavelengths are very long due to the fact radio waves operate on the lower end of the RF bands. Cellular phones operate at a much higher frequency, so the antennae are much shorter in cell phone applications. The wavelengths are much shorter due to higher frequencies.

    2. There is no 2.

That's what I had figured...because I know on antenna wire even just the winding of it will matter (ie a cut antenna wire will never fuse right), but I figured it would be worth an ask, b/c the little antenna would make a sweet addition.

To this I ask another question

Is there any way I can make the stock antenna have better reception...mine is a non power unit that apparently can manually retract but I know is not OEM honda
