For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Input on muffler from you experienced builders

I've been thinking about my future, final exhaust setup after my 220whp engine utilizing the bisi header, etc., etc. Exhaust piping will be 3". Obviously I want to retain as much power efficiency as possible, GREAT sound, but lowish noise levels.

My goal for this car is to have a naturally aspirated, COMFORTABLE, but very capable vehicle. My current straight-thru exhaust sounds great but creates aweful drone and resonance at highway speeds. It's obnoxiously deafening.

That said, I want your opinions and thoughts on these 2 mufflers for my goals and setup:

    Hooker Aero Chamber

    Edelbrock SDT

I'm not looking for "just get used to the noise" responses. Thanks alot for any help.

Hey Mike. Can u get me one of those and do a mod outlet for the wagon hole, maybe when I get the other work from you we talked about. Is there enough room. The spot for the muffler is the same size but has a more of a angle hole, more to the pass side than sedans and coupes.

Sorry for the off topic OP

I purchased a set of them about a year ago but didn't like how it was going to end up sitting under the car or the tips....sold them to my brother to put on his f150. I'm also not putting a 2.5" bottleneck in my 3" piping. 2.5" opening means only about 2.2" of gasses are able to flow at a high velocity with the other .3" caught up along the inner walls from friction and traveling much slower. Gotta retain 3" all the way through.

Is the Apexi WS2 "turbo" 80mm inlet muffler a straight-thru or chambered?

Take a look at the Flowmaster Hushpower II's. I got one of the shorty's to install in place of the cat.

Interesting but looks too straight-thru. I'm going to have to get either an excellent straight-thru like the WS2 or something with baffles.

The megan racing M-DT duel tip muffler is designed with a more conservative Oval design rather than the common Canister style universal mufflers. These are more discreet to law enforcment and although the feature the same perforated-core design as the Canister mufflers that we sell, they offer a deeper more mellow tone due to the increased amount of packing that is contained within the muffler casing.

Thanks but that looks pretty much exactly like what I have now: Current OBX straight-thru

Sounds great but way too loud on the highway.

I'm having the same problem. I think i am going to go with the WS2 turbo exhaust. I know its pricey, but i want my car to be as quiet as possible.

Edit: The down pipe seems to go straight to the cat. I have not had the exhaust put on. I will be getting the flange and gasket next week.

If i ever do my exhaust i want an alloy one. they do exist. don't melt and not as loud as steel. maybe if your lucky you can find someone thats done them.
                        weight saving is good as-well.
I was trying to source titanium pipes for a while but finding someone to work with it will probably be a nuisance.

anyway just add resonators and you can keep whatever you have now will remove drone without affecting performance.

Well I found a way to remedy the drone problem while retaining complete straight-thru design.....it'll cost you about 60lbs. Put closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl over the muffler area of trunk, rear wheel wells, rear seat back, under rear seat, rear part of floor pan and over the hump.

It completely killed the drone and my car is soooo much quieter now but I can still hear it at wot.

Here's my sources if anyone wants to take this route. LINKY

so with 3" your running a turbo right?

Nope, high hp N/A. 2.75 would be optimal but can't get that piping as easy.
