    FFD LSD-Conversion Kit installed

I figured this may answer some of the questions about the install since it's pretty brief and states that you may need to modify to fit. No moding - easy install.

I have read a lot of people saying to avoid these and save up for a quaife LSD on CB7tuner, but on other sites I had found a lot of people that had them installed. I couldn't find strong pros or cons (other than don't buy it, get a quaife) but what I do know is I'll never have a grand laying around for a Quaife.... I only have a OEM H2A5, so if it grenades - no big loss. 100% feedback on eBay so it can't be that bad, right.... I agree, I never would pay $300 for a Phantom Grip since an OBX LSD is just a little more, but these are half that, and in all reality, it's a machined block of steel with 4 springs so I can't imange much of a quality difference.

    FFD LSD conversion kit $170shipped
Their site states the product has a lifetime workmanship warranty rather than the other even cheaper eBay units where they told me no warranty at all.

    Removed the diff from trans
Remove center shaft dowel pin, and slide center shaft out
Remove one diff. gear bolt (reverse thread)
Slide in LSD converter replace center shaft pin
Remove LSD converter straps and center the LSD converter blocks

The hardest part was compressing the unit. I did not realize how strong these springs were - had to go out and buy a vice. The black and decker work table didn't cut it!

I'm still waiting on Honda to send me 3rd gear and syncros to get this all back together, but it should be up and running by Monday and I can see how she pulls. Can't really push her too hard right away w/ a new clutch and the conversion kit says to allow 500 miles for break in.

Don't worry, I plan on it - I have looked and looked for reviews on these things and found a lot of back and forth arguments..... so I hope I can add some good reviews to these, especially for $160 and no modding - from reading some OBX LSD installs it sounded like a nightmare.

To add to this I am testing out the F1 Stage 2 clutch - some people told me they regret it, but looking at the eBay seller GRIPFORCE-CLUTCHES (number1 seller of clutches) and he is selling a shit load of these. I got it because I like what it's made of - Carbon Kevlar

It won't be long to get this thing rolling, as long as Honda holds up to their word, they said my parts will be here tomorrow. The city gave me a citation to have the car off of jack stands by Monday so I have a little fire under my ass!

man so much still to do...
        Replace 3rd gear and syncros
        Reassemble tranny & install
        Replace CSC
        Replace distributer seal
        Fix oil leak
Front end alignment (new camber kit)

back out to the street; drop clutch at 8k rpm... jk! but it would be a nice pay back to who ever called the city on me!

My old boss' Prelude was sponsored by FF Dynamics, they sent him on of those but we never installed it. Looks exactly like a Phantom Grip. I'm curious to know how well it works, definitely give us an update when you get some miles on it!

^ Sounds promising, by looking at their website I had my doubts...

F1 Stage 2 clutch in... It looks great and shinny, but for anyone with a Bisimoto Evolution flywheel you will need to "enlarge" the alignment holes; not much just a ch . A good heads up to anyone looking at one, I was lucky to have the right drill bit laying around.

After making a thousand calls I found a syncro, another heads up - Honda syncro's are dealer only, most of the calls I made were pretty humourous to the guy on the other end. They are special order even through Honda (1 week extra).

Not a bad choice especially that you can take apart a trans yourself. Our good ol Deeve has a phantom grip! Hes had it for awhile but not installed.

all together and working very well!

Transmission repair - Replaced 1st, 2nd, and 3rd syncros, 3rd gear, slider and seals.
                  Installed FFD LSD converter kit
                  Installed F1 Stage 2 clutch
Installed Bisimoto 8lb Evolution flywheel (Thanks WilliamW)
                  Replace clutch slave cylinder
                  Installed front camber adjust kit

All for around $625 not bad...

I HAVE TRACTION! In first gear from a stop I would burn the tires all day, but now grip and go, hope this lasts. I haven't pushed her too hard since everything is new and needs to be broke in, but I'll update this with some details when that comes.

I had read a lot of complaints about the F1 clutch being very soft at first, IDK it seems fine to me.

IMO the LW flywheel isn't that drastic of a change, first gear is a little touchy but I'm putting some of that to the new clutch too. I had weighed the stock flywheel - a little over 17lbs for anyone wondering.

The camber kit fixed the camber problem but for anyone looking at doing the kit that swaps out the 2 bushings on the upper control arm, it makes other problems. Not a huge problem but the upper arm hits the wheel well now, I am assuming that after a few big bumps it will take care of itself....

^ At the moment I am allergic (i guess you could say....) laid off, I can't believe I fit these upgrades in. I wish I had tons of money laying around but, I had a budget and went well over it. I did try to get that LSD off of your hands... I was trying to throw money left and right on this site but in the end only one deal went through.... A trans rebuild is well over what I spent in total, I just felt like since it was apart it was a good time to do it... So I have a couple of questionable upgrades, and some free time to experiment, which so far seems to be well worth the money. Honestly it's a stock trans with 190mi on her and all I wanted was a good dd trans (what I got and more). Believe you me when the $$$ starts flowing again I don't go cheap and my focus is at the motor - if the trans/clutch holds up, fckn kudos to FFD and F1!

splitsecondcb - I don't want the cheapest garbage out there but I diffenently don't have a motor worth spending $1k on just a LSD (yet...) so looking through a ton of reviews I found a FFD LSD on eBay for $170 shipped

Skeet skeet - goto majestic honda's website (there's others too), print out the exploded views and you'll have no problems, just pick somewhere clean w/ room and take your time. IMO it was a pretty easy job, kind of a pain to get the trans housing back together at the end, but not too bad. I pulled it apart, inspected the gears and ordered what I needed ****ANYTHING you need is special order! so have a couple of weeks planned for this...

So far I am not lovin the camber adjustment - the upper arms hit the fender wells, making a awful noise so I guess I'm gong to have to fix that....

I had installed a SPC camber kit on my car and was hitting the top of the fender wells. All I had to do was hammer out the fender wells a little bit and now no awful sound over bumps. I know there was a thread on here at one point in time about another guy doing the same he made a DIY thread. I can't seem to find it right now, sorry about that. Just look and see where the camber kit has been hitting the fender well and you will now where to hammer out. Hope this helps.

k 200 miles and I did a light launch last night - great take off, and no pulling to the side. Clutch and flywheel feel great, no stalls.

Removed the constantly loosening/breaking camber kit and put OEM equipment back on, try again w/ ingalls. In a few hundred miles I have to pull the trans back apart so I can give an update to whats going on internal too.
