I have seached and I dont think this has been covered. I know that the more oxygen your engine is getting, the better the combustion. So what would happen if you spayed straight oxygen into the intake (like nitrous)? Would this increase performance, or what would be the outcome?

Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Oxygen boost?

Well, I think your idea may be on the right track in theory, but I just don't see it working the way you expect. Plus, getting ahold of Oxygen is not that easy, plus nitrous not only provides more oxygen to the air charge, but it also cools it. But hey, be a pioneer, spray some oxygen into your engine and see what happens...

what about this? http://cgi.ebay.com/GoKarts-Go-Karts...QQcmdZViewItem
It says that each bottle is a 15 shot. Will it a 15 hp to a car? If so it would only be for 5sec but its better than nothin.Last edited by ludedude89si; 01-31-2006, 05:19 AM.

More oxygen only works if you add more fuel too. The oxygen by itself doesn't do anything, it is the chemical reaction of the oxygen being burned with the fuel that creates Vitamin HP.
Pure oxygen is potentially dangerous (it likes to react chemically with almost everything) and really isn't worth the effort.
Nitrous Oxide basically breaks down into OXYGEN and NITROGEN, so the basic effect of adding OXYGEN is the same. However it cools the air around it significantly as it vaporizes(the heat energy in the air provides the energy for the change in physical state) from liquid to gas as it is sprayed out of the nozzle, so we are left with a much cooler and denser intake charge.
Once at a very high temp (like in the combustion chamber), the N2O breaks down and seperates molecularly. This leaves us with an OXYGEN atom and and 2 NITROGEN atoms.
The OXYGEN combines with fuel during combustion, creating more power (or a blown engine in the absence of enough fuel) and the NITROGEN actually acts as a combustion inhibitor (NITROGEN is inert, so it does not react chemically and thus does not burn) slowing the flame propogation down. This effectively helps to prevent detonation.
Again you have to add an adequate amount of fuel, or you are just going to blow your engine.

Oxygen boost, as in nitrous OXIDE aka N2O. The nitrogen is there to stabilize the otherwise volitile oxygen. So ineffect a pure injection of oxygen is just a much more dangerous version of N2O.
EDIT: Owequitit pretty much said the same thing.Last edited by KillerCam282; 01-31-2006, 09:18 PM.

I remember there was some guy on some board about 8-9 years ago that tried this and literally melted is engine(acutally the front end of his car) he even had burns on his feet) there were pics and everything I wish I still had them.
