I want to relocate my battery to the trunk so i can make a twin battery setup for my audio equip, but i also have an external coil setup so first q is how do i even relocate my battery and what type of wire do i use, how long and where is a good place to put it... also where should i run the wire, through the interior or should i run it under the undercarage along side the sideskirt?

Battery goes to trunk.
Someplace nice and safe in the trunk.
Id say use 00gauge wire, the thickest you can get.
Dont run it under the car run it under the floor lining.
As far as how much i think like 6-8 feet should be more then enough.
my buddy has this done on his 96civic hatch and its clean and not that hard.

while i should tell you to search, ill help out some.
1)use 0 or 2 gauge wire, about 15 ft for the positive lead.
2)make sure the wire that grounds the battery to body of the car is not very long
3)run it inside the car, under the interior. outside of the car is bad.
heres my setup

good luck, and always search.2010 Taurus SHO - Livernois Goodies

industry standard for power wire would be 17ft. 6 feet would be lucky to make it past the front seat. your battery is on the passenger side, and there's a nice grommet there that you can put the power wire through. drill the grommet, and put it back in, otherwise your power wire could ground out on the firewall.
i would use at least 0awg.
if not, use double, or tripple 4 gauge, which is readily available at most car audio places, and alot cheaper than 0 or 00 gauge.
you will also need a fuse block or circuit breaker at BOTH ends, within 6-12 inches of each battery. an unfused 0 gauge wire that comes in contact with your chassis somehow or another will almost positively cause a fire.
you'll need some nice connections and nice fuse blocks for the terminals, and thats gonna be probably as expensive as the wire or more.
before you go adding another battery, you may just want to think about replacing your existing battery with a nice gel cell, like an optima yellowtop, and maybe a capacitor in the back. either way you need wire and fuses

lol na but i goofed on the 6 feet i was thinking of something else...bah whatever lol
but yea thats the basic breakdown and i agree highly with trying an Optima or a cap in the back first.
my dude relocated the battery to make room for his MSD shit and clean up the bay, NOT because of his sound system so

I think mine is around 10-12ft. I used heavy gauge welding wire...nice and resistant to heat and very durable...however, not as bendable as car audio cable.
I used an optima instead of buying a battery box. The gel cell does not leak gas and wont' need a marine battery box.
as was stated...use nice strong grounds...i even welded a bolt to the body so i could torque down the ring terminal nicely. In all honesty though, if this is for car audio, dont' waste your money on a second battery...get a yellow optima up front and get a high output alternator (if you plan to run huge SPL's). I run 3 amps (tweets, mids, sub) and am just fine with my stock alternator and battery...but i do SQ not SPL.
ANyways, good luck.

I would like to add to this.
- What ever gauge wire you choose to go with, be sure to match with the same gauge on the negative side.
- Upgrading your ground points is a plus as well. And for me personally, a must.
- Keep the ground wire no longer than 18" and be sure that the ground point is nice and strong.
My $0.02.
