Hi all,
This has been bugging me for awhile, but I figured I'd post it up and see if anyone has a similar story.
So about a year ago I had installed a Megan header and a Carsound Cat in addition to the World Sport 2 catback I already had on the car.
I noticed immediately it didn't sound right, but that was due to a flexpipe leak. I had that leak fixed, but I still noticed that it would produce a rasp in the first 2 gears at about 50% throttle. I was showing my friends the problem, and they said it sounded like the muffler was to blame as the rasp was definitely coming from the back of the exhaust.
Now, I had the catback off it's hangers when I put on the header, but I did not take it apart at the axleback section.
Is there any explanation for this newfound rasp? There was none before the header/cat. I had the flex replaced and the rest of the exhaust checked for leaks.
I'm thinking either there's still a leak at the cat I'm not hearing...or the axleback section has a leak caused from taking the exhaust off that I'm not seeing, or the innards of the muffler broke?
I've been under the car and I don't hear any leaks at idle. There's no noticeable cracks or issues with the seam between the pipe and the muffler. There's also nothing noticeable at the flange...but I dunno.
