Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Painting Header Question

A few weeks ago I got a DC header from the junkyard...and being that it was from there it wasn't in the best shape looks wise, but was in mint shape other than that. So last night, I went out and got some dull silver BBQ paint rated up to 1200 degrees and sprayed the top part of the header. It looks really nice now...almost new. My concern is...am I gonna melt the paint right off as soon as I put this on my engine. The paint I used is Rustoleum, so I know its a good brand, and I prepped the header the right way before I painted it. I just didn't want a nasty looking header in my engine bay to start with. Am I creating more of a problem than I had before?

It will probally end up melting off. I would reccomend getting Jet Hot.

Anyone know where i can get some and cost issues...and can i paint over the paint...the thing is it looks wicked nice right now...i just fear the second i put heat through it, it'll melt...i mean i'm hoping that the 1200 degree rating will give me some insurance tho...because its like the same stuff people use to black house their lights...oh well..

Steel wool and elbow grease ownZ j00 ....IF its a SS header use a mild steel cleaner, if its ceramic just get header wrap

yes it will come off eventually....just slap it on, its not like you'll pop your hood to show off your super cool header all you want is the mid range hp you get out of it....who cares about what it looks like
