From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

this is a evo 3 big 16g...td05-16g. its laying next to a dish strainer thing so you can get an idea on size. i am swapping the compressor though from 16g to 20g. its not too much bigger, but it should help the top end out.

how is the 16g better than the 14b?
i was just wondering tho. i always saw people refer to it as the "big 16g"Originally posted by bagoon316 View Postthe 16g is still small, you will start spoolin before 3k.

well yeh cuz thats what its called, the EVO3 big 16g lol. but its still a bagel lol. it will def spool by 3k no doubt, and full boost depending on how much boost you are running prob by 3500 at the latest is my guess.

whats a good psi to run on stock internals and a good tune? i dont want to run any more than like 8 or 9psi.
one thing im trying to figure out is how is it that the boost is regulated. arent there turbos out there that come with internal wastegates?

Don't trust that cheeseboner guy, he will give you incorrect map sensor wiring info!Originally posted by Hondaman1984 View PostYea ask chessboxer. He has help me out alot. He would be glad to help. Also i am runing a 16g turbo at 10psi and it is so much better then the 14b.
On to turbos.
There are 3(that I know of) 16gs, there could be more.
There is the 16g, bigger than the 14b, but not by a whole lot(dont know cfm rating)
There is the big 16g, bigger than a standard 16g, but not much(dont know cfm)
And then the biggest 16g is an authentic EVO 3 Big 16g, which has a cfm rating of, I believe 550 cfm, to the 405 cfm of the 14b.
Don't think that the e3B16G is a large turbo though, it is not big in the grand scheme of things.
It is a great turbo, when it is GENUINE MHI brand turbo. Get a knockoff, and you will regret it. There have been 10 second dsms on this turbo, and it is considered by most to be the best dsm street turbo. Great spool up, great response, good flow rating, etc.
You won't see lag with this turbo (I can hit 10 psi by 4k easily) but when I drive around the street I am out of boost.
Great turbo, especially when purchased new and when taken care of. I recommend forcedperformance and slowboy for buying new.2010 Taurus SHO - Livernois Goodies

14bs and 16gs are generally always internally wastegated, but internal wastegate is infamous for boost creep and spikes.Originally posted by Shadow1 View Postwhats a good psi to run on stock internals and a good tune? i dont want to run any more than like 8 or 9psi.

Do you understand how wastegates work? Internal vs external? Not being a dick, just wondering if you understand all of the basic principles. the wg, bov, manifold, turbine, etc.
On a stock block, up to 20 psi has been done, but isnt recommended for daily use. I was 12 psi on a 14b daily for a year and 15 psi on the e3b16g for a few months daily.
You can see 200-250 whp on a 16g and a decent tune on 8 psi on the stock block. Get an h23 IM and a cam to go with the setup, and you will be happy I would imagine.2010 Taurus SHO - Livernois Goodies

yeah i know your running a DSM set up. what are the specs of yours? any advice?Originally posted by quickangel93 View Postdude you should know im running dsm setup. but im getting rid of a bunch of parts, so let me know...
for right now i just want to run a side mount. i know its not gonna get me a lot of p but its for the stealth look. blacking out the IC will make it invisible from a distance. but up close someone would be able to tell what it is.

WG and BOV? yes. i understand how they work. more so the BOV. its not just there for the cool sound. its there so in between shifts when the trottle body closes, the turbo is still spinning(spooled), so the extra boost needs somewhere to go. so the BOV is there to vent the extra boost into the atmosphere.Originally posted by chessboxer View Post14bs and 16gs are generally always internally wastegated, but internal wastegate is infamous for boost creep and spikes.

as far as the WG, im not too sure as to how it works. internal verses external. im glad you told me about the boost creep and spikes thing tho. iv heard of too many turbo projects going sour because of boost creep and motors getting permanent peep holes to the internals from boost spikes. but i think its something like the BOV but it doesnt give you that sound that the BOV does
200-210whp is what im looking to get horsepower wise. if i can get that or even 190whp on a good tune then id be happy. i plan on going with a map from crzy.tuning or MRX.
