Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

If your going to look for DSM injectors. Look for the 95+ Black top 450cc injectors. They have the updated "v" spray pattern. They are found in the 95+ Turbo Eclipse, Laser & Talon.
The ports do not need to be drilled out. It's only the lower bushings/seals that need to be made larger. It takes all of 5 minutes with a dremel/drill and an 80 grit sanding cartridge roll.

STOP.....NEGATIVE INFORMATION!!!
nothing needs to be drilled!
what you need to do is take your pinky and lube it up with oil
then spread oil on the rail seal.
do this for each injector port.
with the injectors installed on the fuel rail, take your pinky and lube the injector on the outside where it goes into the port.
push fuel rail on and tighten 10mm bolts.
you do not need to port these bushings or ports. if done incorrectly can only lead to issues down the road!
as far as OPS original question. DSM injectors are good for the money you should find a set of blue tops and they are plug n play.
Well with the exception of being tuned. As long as you have the OBD1 resistor box still connected. which is the rib looking box connected to the driver side engine bay, by the shock tower.

I assume this is for a boost project and you are not just trying to add dsm injectors to your stock engine without tuning.Last edited by drummersteve7; 04-02-2010, 03:19 AM.

Stop! Solid information that will save you from vacuum leaks and possible fuel leaks in the future!
So how long have you had them installed? What happens to your squished seals over time? I know what happens, they will split and cause a vacuum leak if you don't ream them. But no need to take my word for it. If you want to do it this way and force them into the seals go ahead.
Do not force your injectors into the rubber bushings.
Why would you suggest to the op to buy the older less efficient blue tops? The black tops are newer and have a much more effective spray pattern.Last edited by GhostAccord; 04-02-2010, 10:50 AM.

actually it is just a more condensed rubber, I ran them on my setup for over a year, no issues..
so whoever told you to dremel and you believed not exactly sure why.
please get some facts straight first. I do not deliver false information.
this will not cause vacuum leaks and I never said get the black top over the blue top. but then again the blue top is known to what works.
almost everyone on this forum have set them up this way WITHOUT dremel. so what you think vs. experience owns!
when you do this, do not forget to slowly tighten the fuel rail. one side at a time. like torquing bolts. this will help create an even pressure amongst all seals.Last edited by drummersteve7; 04-02-2010, 11:05 AM.

I've honed quite a few sets with no problems ether. there is a set I did 3 years ago still running strong with no issues. So don't say experience owns. It seems as though there are two ways to do it. However I was always taught not to use excessive force to push a metal object into rubber o-rings. That was just my experience as a mechanic though, why should that count.
You are correct, you didn't say black top over blue, you said to use the old crappy blue tops over the newer & better black tops. reading owns!Originally posted by drummersteve7 View Postas far as OPS original question. honestly, they are dsm injectors, they work for a budget build!
I am not going to argue over a measley 250 hp build.
dsm injectors are budget build. so it really does not matter which ones you get.
and sure reading owns. and yes dremeling if properly done can be a descent way to go. but honestly most people that are asking these questions. no offense to OP, are rookies in this situation. so they have a higher chance of messing the seals up than a mechanic. make sense?Last edited by drummersteve7; 04-02-2010, 11:13 AM.

i'm with him.
i dremelled/bored my first set of DSM rubber seals, and they leaked fuel.
bought 4 new ones from honda, REMOVED the plastic seal under the rubber ones, lubed up the injectors and GENTLY used pressure to push them in, and haven't leaked since
so yes, people have had success with both ways

So why did you side with Drummersteve7 and quote that the information that was posted is negative information? Then in the next sentence you do an about face and say both ways workOriginally posted by twokexlv6coupe View Postso yes, people have had success with both ways

As for them leaking after you honed them. My guess would be that you took them out a bit too far.
I've never had a set leak yet... (knocks on wood!)

they are dsm injectors running on a honda. black or blue, both can have issues. DSM is the budget build like I have said before. and several people have ran them with no issues.Originally posted by zack_odom View Postweerrrd. every body breathe haha.
Im going to be using the DSM blacktop injectors for my build.
I had read about the spray pattern. And also about how the blue tops can sieze up or something, leaning out and detonating my engine. I wasnt to thrilled about that.
