Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

the most common mod.. is extending the the wastegate rod.. cutting a piece out and replacing it with a threadded fitting.. to fit over each cut piece.. so u can adjust.. ill see if i find pictures..

        Hey, you're spoon feeding him...

As somebody who is currently in the process of getting ready to boost an H22, I have been reading a lot about this here and on other forums.

The allure of the gobs and gobs of horsepower you can generate with what amounts to some inexpensive bolt-ons is too great, I admit it. The hard part is actually thinking about it.

The DSM parts are cheap and plentiful, you can slap them on your block and go fast today. But tomorrow you won't go anywhere after your ring lands go, your rods go, your head gasket...

Not being an expert, in fact this is the first motor I'm trying to build, and doing as much reading about this as I can, I already see two things that point to people not thinking and also being too lazy.

One, like somebody said before, the guys looking for quick and easy turbo maps for their ECU instead of getting in there and fiddling with it themselves.

Two, pistons! WTF guys! From what I'm seeing, one of the biggest problems people have with boosting is frying their ringlands on the Honda pistons. Drop the $300 and buy some decent pistons for boosting. Rods, crank, etc. may break your budget, but c'mon, at least buy yourself some margin of error and get the pistons.

Jim: Well, my name is Jim, but most people call me... Jim.

has nobody thought of buying that 300 dollar wideband o2 sensor isntead of the 400 FMIC? like wikked is trying to say. think before you act. end of story.

im sayin, im not even going to boost and i've already set money aside for a wideband o2. even if you dont buy the whole thing urself, it can be shared with you and a friend to save money!

i hate to see all you guys blow up, it'd brake my heart, because of the fact that your cars would probly just rot, b/c alot of u dont have the wrench time or knowledge to replace your worn f22.

good luck with your endevours, spend the extra dime and dont wait for chips in the mail. do your best. and most of all, its a learning experience, have fun.

As i agree with most of the thread i can't get the point across enough. Ppl will ask me for maps...i come up with a BASEMAP for them and tell them to buy a chip burner because you will need to make changes. Ppl then tell me i don't know how to tune or where to start. So i came up with things like "the chipped ecu thread", "tips, truths, and myths", "fuel 101" and etc. I ask if there are any questions about ignition timing, cam timing, fuel curves...and i'm still asked "so how do you tune?" Only one person has come to me correctly and that was iamanonymous. I believe he and I are the ONLY ones using uber and self tuning with widebands currently on their car. The rest simply wait around for a map. And then 92ex is just too lazy to put his wb on

As much as i hate e-tuning with little to no information...and i truly do hate it...it seems to be what ppl want. I do my disclaimers and plead for them to buy widebands and a chip burner. I handed out all the information needed between the two stickies here in the performance section...literally handed it out. But the 90% consumers don't want DIY...they want boost and they want boost now. I tell them again to get a wb, chip burner, read up on all my tips on tuning, don't boost till you get on a dyno and we'll work together ( i have no problem working with you if you have the tools and general knowledge). They don't want that...fine, your car, your money, your decision. I'll do my best with the tune but don't expect perfection ( and of course they do). I used to think it was wrong to go through with the transaction but after awhile you realize you gave it to them just the way they wanted.

You guys thought the boosted ppl were bad? Wait till the all motor guys find out the chipped ecu's will work for them too.

Oh i read it lol. It hasn't blown out of portion for the n/a guys yet.

Ppl don't like to hardwork. They want quick easy installs with no hassle. Not preaching but it was blood, sweat, and pain for me to get my car running. More blood than anything tho...month long install working everyday on the car, after the car was running i still wasn't able to boost for a month. And i expected everything to go wrong...and everything did lol. Sorry to say folks but its never easy, improve the driver b4 you improve the car...that means not only driving skills but knowledge of the machine you are building. And whats even worse...someone will chime in and say "well tell us how to do it right" LMFAO!!! I have no problem accepting money from a fool...they are easily parted anyways right?

Grumpys93 will be a prime example of late night researching for months. He's going all the way back to "how engine's work." Thats the way to do it. Take some advil and read till your eyes bleed.

that's a rediculous statement. you can push plenty of power on stock internals, its all in tuning. you see motors go everyday, and when you ask the people why it blew, a common response is too much boost on a basemap. i personally know quite a few people who beat there cars on basemaps.

like i said, be prepared for the worst when working on your car.

but although i'm confident i still realize this thing could blow any day. Two consistancies i saw with boosted f22's blowing up b4 i went turbo was insufficient fuel (some had no idea what a/f's they were running in the first place) and over boosting to make power. As the car got faster and faster they felt like it was stronger and thus safer. Sometimes fast don't last.

er... yeah it's the truth. I'm gonna relocate the battery today, work on the charge pipes, then maybe, if I'm not tired, start thinking about the wideband.lol. But Iam's map is running so nice right now... I still have that CEL though, too lazy to copy/paste columns into UD 1.6. lol

But you know what? you have the right to be lazy. 92ex has done his hw and knows what needs to be done. He doesn't have to rush he can take his sweet time cause he has the tools to do as he pleases. Whats the file name for the map your currently on?
