    Ball Joint Nut

Just a heads up to all.....check your suspension components regularly. We were leaving from my wife's family's home Saturday night and I heard a weird noise. As I started driving the car was pulling hard right and was making a funny noise. I went over a bridge and suddenly heard a loud crash. I pulled over to find my driver's side tire leaning inward. I got the car jacked up, and found that the cotter pin had broken and the upper ball joint castle nut had came off, allowing my ball joint to separate from the knuckle. Luckily I had another castle nut and cotter pin set to fix it. I've never had this happen before, but wanted to let everyone know. If we had made it onto the interstate and this had happened, we all possibly could have been killed.

I just swapped rear upper control arms on my new cb and both cotter pins broke from being so old and after I re installed I didn't have any to replace the old ones. Looks like I'll be at autozone as soon as possible.

Glad to hear everything turned out OK, family is always #1
I wake up in the morning and piss excellence!

Always use NEW cotter pins when doing ball joints. Never re-use.

yeah always use new ones. Mine were new as I had just replaced all of my ball joints. I guess sometimes you just get a bad part.
