it's your brakes. literally the most important thing on your car. Get parts that work with what you have rather than fuck with janky parts.

        Trim brake pads = no

This would be the same as cutting your springss = no. You could do it, but you are risking your life and the lives of others.

I'm not talking about trimming the actual pad but where it meets the caliper bracket, as far as i remember it was only a few mm to wide...

If you even have to ask, then you should really think about it some more.

I've had to file/grind down the end tabs on the backing plates several times over the years, simply b/c they were a horrible fit and would've been way too tight + wouldn't float properly. But this was for direct fitting parts. Use your best judgement. Afew mm, up to you but don't weaken the plates!

so you're thinking about compromising the safety of a car you plan on driving at 60-80 mph along gravel/dirt/snow trails inches from trees? I feel like you are really trying for this year's Darwin award.

Not that kind of rally, i dont know how to translate it to english but its a kind of amature rally uphill climbing in the forrest, i cant see this beeing very dangerous as i would not bee weakening anything just trim the tabs where they slide in the bracket. But i dont know for sure.

one thing to take into account is the material strength of the metal. cutting or grinding it introduces a lot of heat into the metal, and can ruin any kind of heat-treating they may have done to the metal. I'm not saying they did that to these pads, but I wouldn't discount the possibility either.

In all reality, it may be perfectly fine to do, but there are always the variables that you can never know until you try it and risk doing something very bad.

Would it not be easier to just get the akebeno calipers from a JY accord.

ahh someone draws from the well of common sense.

Use the akebono calipers till you burn up the EBC pads.

akebono calipers dont exist here, only nissin equipped cars, i will try and grind it with cooling but since the pads are naturally exposet to massiv heat i cant really see that problem.
