    What do you think?

My cashflow isn't the hottest thing this side of the Mississippi. I was thinking of getting some cheap ebay springs, AGX shocks, and a front camber kit. Even with the shocks and camber kit, can I still get a decent ride on the springs? I mean, the springs are made out of extremely similar, if not the same, material. They just aren't brand name. Those coupled with nice shocks and camber kit should make for a decent ride shouldnt it? The springs alone are whats eating up the money. I found some AGX (x4) for $250 already. Camber kits aren't that expensive.

Let me know what you think. Springs cant be IT on a suspension setup.

Here is the main problem. As far as I know, the lot of you have credit cards so you can put your shit on credit. I, on the other hand, do not. I have to have the cash in full or I don't get shit. This is why I have such a problem choosing parts. If I had a CC, shit, I don't know what I would do. I'm seriously thinking about getting one just so I can get shit done.

filling up credit cards with car debt is stupid. i do the same as you, i just save up and buy parts one at a time, and once i collect enough to install, i install them all together.

you can still mod a car on a tight limited budget... i had hardly any free cash and refuse to use my credit card, but i wanted to lower my car. after enough searching, i found a set of like-new Eibach Sportline springs for just under $60 shipped, which is damn cheap for a good set of springs. i got them, cleaned them off and installed on my stock shocks. good ride for as long as i had them, and i only spent $60.

i gotta agree w/ maple on this one...hmm...never thought id say that.

spring rates spring rates spring rates. thats the seperator, not the material.

            what is your budget?

...and CC's are dumb, espescially when you saturate the limit with car parts, just as [mike] said.

Same setup here w3d. Debit links to checking. However, in bills alone, I have to shell out around $500-$600 a month. I only make roughly $800 a month at my part-time job (I attend college which sucks up my time). So, with the remaining cash, I really can't do much. Tack on gas and stupid crap and the money is no more.

I always look at the whole picture. Seeing how much everything will cost (camber, shock, spring) which makes it seem worse lol. I guess I'll have to stop eating fast food and only filling up half tank of gas to cut down more.

But, would the eBay springs be suitable if their springrates are acceptable? Everyone knocks cheap stuff on eBay which is why I'm asking. Some of the prices on there are fuckin cheap. I mean like $25 plus shipping for 2''+ springs. Crazy.

This is like your 4th thread on the same subject of lowering your car. I can tell you seriously think about lowering it all the time but there are some basics you are missing. You are smart to post up before you buy but I think there are a few things that need to be explained to you.

                      1. It is not what spring or what shock you choose, but what works together.
                      2. The spring rate makes a difference just like the shocks ability to handle the spring rate. A matched setup is ideal (see #1).
                      3. We mention the brands above because they are tried and true and everyone has/is using them. The "ebay" ones as you call them (didn't know ebay made springs ) are unknown not only from a true final lowering standpoint but also in the areas of handling, ride quality, spring rate, etc. You are more then welcome to be a pioneer and try out some of the other brand springs you see and post up your review. Maybe you will come across something everyone else has missed.
                      4. Attempting to be cheap will bite you in the end. You can be a smart buyer and buy things cheap or you can be the other guy and buy cheap things.

I understand the whole school thing and made sacrifices to mod the car. K-mart is in school as well so he understands how you feel and what you are trying to do. He saved and saved until he got what he wanted. I would suggest you save until you get the setup you want or something decent at least. Do your homework, read the reviews, and go from there before you end up unhappy with your decision. Wed3k's advice is the way to go though on a budget. plus there are camber kits that can be had for a low price as well. There are a few of us that can help you install it.

screw a camber kit, you don't have a massive drop. i don't have one and never will. just get an alignment. later.

I must look like a psycho when posting all of this stuff lol. It comes from the nightmares I had with my '89 Accord just 2 years ago. I did all of the work on that thing myself, and it all backfired and I ended up killing the car. So now, I have been really paranoid about what I'm buying and about installing parts, as I feel that the slightest messup will hurt something permanently. It also makes it worse that I am the 2nd owner of an almost 14 year old CB7 with 92k miles on it. Just makes me paranoid knowing I could screw up.

Damn I need a psychologist or something lmao.

Hey man, I can understand where you're coming from. My best advice would be to space out your buying. When I bought my springs, I had the page up for 3 hours before I clicked buy. I weighed out everything, did hours of research and ended up with the springs I have now. It took me over a year to install them though, mainly because I didn't want to do it myself until I had someone who had experience with me.

I also spaced out the time when I bought my struts as well to help lessen the blow financially. I just made sure I had a setup that matched as well as I could. I mean there are definitely days I wish I went with the more expensive setup (Koni Yellows) but honestly you have to look at things realistically and ask yourself what you're actually going to need.

For example I have Neuspeed Sport/AGX, because I needed something that wouldn't be super low, since the roads in the Northeast aren't great, and I have a low front lip. I also wanted something adjustable to tailor the ride to how I wanted. I had ridden in cars with very stiff setups and knew that wasn't something I wanted, so I chose a spring that would be a little softer, and gave myself adjustability in case I needed it.

I also spent a lot of time on the site going through pictures trying to find the stance I wanted. In the end my stance is at about where I want it. There are times I wish it was a little lower, but I also realize its not practical where I am.

So honestly, I would make sure you get good quality parts, and just take your time. I actually have acquired all my parts on Ebay through good sellers. If you want, I can find you the names of the sellers where I got my stuff from.

In addition, I have no camber kit with my drop and I had the toe set to 0. I noticed no ill effects on my stock sized tires when I took them off at 10K miles.

However, I am running a 215/45 tire, so I'm not sure what the tread is going to look like up front. However, it doesn't actually phyiscally look like I have terrible camber.
