need help with h22a check engine light

ok so my check engine light has been on for a while i checked it myself and i wanted a second opinion so i took it to aamco since they do it for free and the guy tells me he cant do it since i dont have the plug of the prelude to plug in the computer and that i shouldnt belive what code it is giving me since i dont have the f22 no more and its for the other ecu and it can be a wrong code.do i need the plug of the prelude to be able to check a h22a c.e.l

No, you don't need to get the Prelude plug. He doesn't know where to start because he is obviously not experienced in dealing with cars with swapped engines.
What you need to do is find the jumper connector located under the very far passenger side of dash. I believe it's blue, and it's a 2 pin connector.

Get a short wire or even a paper clip, and jump the connector.

After jumping the connector, place your key in the ignition and turn the ignition until your dash lights up. At this point your check engine light will begin to blink. The blinks are what codes are stored in the ecu.

For further info, read the stickies, or use the search button.
Well since I gave you this much info, here's the rest.

If you want to take a road trip to Stockton, I can help you. But it's really easy to check your codes.

Like ^^^ said, jump the connector and turn the key to III (Key On Engine Off). DO NOT START THE CAR! and read the flashes. Most manuals will have a chart that tells you what each code is. BTW, if your ECU says 4WS on the side and has a 4th plug, you probably won't be able to get rid of the code...

How long ago was "a while back". It's possible you may have developed new codes since then. Btw what code was it?

I don't think you'll be able to get rid of the traction control cel, but the EGR could be a number of things. I had the EGR cel when I got my swap done, but it turned out to be a wiring problem that was easily fixed. Could also be a vacuum hose routing problem or a few other things. PM me if you want to head out my way...

The belt thing is improper tension on the belt. Not hard to fix, unless the belt is damaged...

Dont worry about traction control thats not going to pop up.(it only comes on if you jump diagnostic plug). Just fix the egr problem first. Have you tried cleaning it? Are you using the F22 egr?

CEL code 12 and 36 is what im getting from your post, but if you can double check and see what kind of codes your getting maybe someone can help.

Study up on vacuum diagrams for both your car and the 92-96 prelude vtec.
Each vacuum hoses should have numbers on them so it should be easy to follow. Good luck.

i checked and it is 12 and 36.i bought some brake cleaner and sprayed some in the egr vavle and in the 2 holes on the intake manifold cleaned them out it looks like someone already drilled out the holes on the intake manifold cuz you can tell they refilled them with something.im still getting the c.e.l, i can still feel the car not responding as it should any other ideas.my vacuum lines do have numbers but i know they are not the rite numbers since they resused other lines to put into mine i have 2 20s one 24 with 21 to make a long one

If you are dealing with something like holes drilled in the manifold it might be worth getting a new manifold. At the very least you need to check every single vacuum line just to be sure since whoever did it didn't know what they were doing.

If you got the cel for traction control cel 36 then you have the wrong ecu.

                            You need a 2wd p13 or go with a chipped p28.

For the egr is your egr plugged in?

Check your cels again the next time you start your car.

I know they arent the right numbers and maybe the lines are hooked up wrong. Thats why you should search out the forum for pictures of vacuum lines for both the the H and the F. Drilled holes in you IM? WTF? Maybe that could be the cause? I have my JDM IM laying around. Maybe its best you get a another one.
When i did my swap i didnt get it right the first time. Searching help me out alot. Plus if your thinking about going to blacktrax i recommend them. Jei help me get my IAB to function properly. H22 felt healthier than ever.
