So if I got my hands on a h23 block and a h22 head. Wold it be like a f23 block and f22 head. Better head bigger displacement? Or is there anything stoping that head from slapping on the block?

I believe that is what's called "LS-VTEC," and you'd have to custom-route oil to the head. I'm not too edumicated on the subject but I thought I'd supply a quick answer
. No bolt-on but it's been done plenty of times. You could always get a genuine H23A VTEC from HMO, too.

The "LS-VTEC" is a combination of B series engines... it has nothing to do with us.
The H22 head and H23 block can be done, and as said, it has been done plenty of times. However, mixing engines presents a drastically increased potential for something to go wrong, be it due to builder-error, or simply the incompatibility of the parts being used.
The H23 block with an H22 head would result in a 2.3L VTEC motor that has lower compression and a lower redline than an H22. Assuming you managed to get everything o work together properly, you'd be sacrificing compression and high-end for that extra .1L displacement. Most likely, overall performance would decrease, rather than increase over the full H22.
Again, as mentioned, the best option is to get the H23A VTEC. It already has the 2.3L displacement, with factory-matched VTEC head. It's not really a "performance" motor, though. It's also OBD2, with no corresponding OBD1 ECU... so that would require a custom tune, or you'd run it improperly on a P13.

LS b18b1,2 NON vtec engine + b18c head or b16a head = LS-VTEC. LS is the trim of the TegOriginally posted by CyborgGT View PostI thought I had heard "LS-VTEC" used to describe this H combo, so I assumed it meant a general non-VTEC bottom end with a VTEC head
. So what, exactly, does the "LS" stand for then?Originally posted by Mishakol129Do not disrespect my intelligence. I am the smartest person I know : )

So an H23 block (Si Prelude) and H22 head (VTEC Prelude) would be an Si VTEC....
Except for the fact that the Si VTEC already exists as the usual H22 Prelude. It's still not a G23 for F#@k sakesLast edited by GhostAccord; 06-24-2011, 12:21 AM.

Yea when I wanted to do this I had called a well known shop down here. And they said it was possible, their 9 second civic shop car had this swap, how ever I guess there's a oil bypass needed on the h22 head or somthin like that........
He was talkin fast and had a heavy asain accent. So he lost my train of thought.

Possible, yes. However, most of these hybrids built by inexperienced engine builders don't last. Only a handful of them do, and all of those are built by people that have a good deal of experience. If you pay a shop to do it, then it won't be cheap. You'd have to be SURE that you have a good reason for doing the swap to justify the cost. Personally, I don't see any real benefit to doing a headswap.

Though it makes about as much sense as "G23"
