    swap, what else?

I'm buying an f22b1 from hmotorsonline. And before you tell me how its a worthless swap it will be cheaper than fixing my car. For 600 dollars and around 30k miles I'm not complaining. I'm not trying to get but about 155whp and the most torque possible. So I know you don't like the engine. But what should I do while the motor is out? I know I want to do mounts, should i fill them myself or? I'll do headers, what else should i do? Timing belt?

sure, timing belt and water pump.
Are you going to use the p0a ecu?

Any maintenance item is smart, especially when you don't know the history of the engine. The aformentioned water pump and timing belt; cam seal, main seals, thermostat, freshen up your old vacuum and coolant lines. Maybe try and tuck the engine harness for a cleaner look? A/C, power steering and cruise control deletes are easy with an empty bay, if that's your thing. If you plan on keeping that engine for your build, now would be the easiest time to throw on something like a thermal intake manifold gasket (Hondata, Bisimoto; not terribly expensive - just be careful when bolting these aluminum parts back up, I over-torqued and cracked the flange on my H's original intake). Do H23 intake manifolds bolt to these as easily as to an F22A? Mounts are much cheaper to fill yourself and you can choose your own stiffness, but aftermarkets look nicer.

Don't be discouraged by the engine choice, they all have great potential with the right frame of mind.

Does it come with the header? If not you can add that to your cost, because the B1's and the A1's flanges are different.

That heat shield gasket is a good idea. And I'm going to buy aftermarket header.

Have you already bought this motor? I'm not saying it is a worthless swap, you can make power with anything if you invest the time and money. I recommend taking a look at TigerJapanese. I know there are a couple bad experiences with them floating around the community(I'm not one of them obviously) but they wouldn't be in business this long if they weren't overall successful. If you're doing $600 plus shipping then why not stretch a few dollars more and do this engine; or if you can afford to get a chipped/tuneable ECU and conversion harness then maybe that engine?

Otherwise, if you've already bought the engine how much do you have to invest in it initially? Timing belt, water pump, and oil seals are the minimum; no need to start off with headaches on your new setup. If you don't have a header Megan Racing makes a decent entry level one. I would also suggest a new clutch if the current one is worn and a lighter flywheel from maybe Fidanza or Competition Clutch if you don't already have one. If you can still do more after that then let us know.

My clutch and flywheel are decent clutch still grab pretty hard. But I'm racing in a horsepower to weight ratio class. They don't look at torque at all. And I want something i can count on more than my 221k oil leaking f22a. So obviously I want to make as much torque as possible without breaking like 155whp. So your typical h22 or f20b swap isn't really ideal since they have the shorter stroke so they can rev higher and have low torque vs their horsepower. I'm not trying to be a Dick, I'm just trying to elaborate further. I like the rather smooth torque curve from the f22s. With this information do you still suggest the same? Thank you

I suggested the F20B and the JDM F22B. If torque is of no consequence in this series then you just need to calculate the appropriate hp/weight ratio and decide what you think is best because at this point its a matter of personal opinion. No matter which engine you choose you will be placed in a subgroup with similar hp/weight specs, so it's not like you're making your competition any easier. I was just offering you a motor with more of a "cool" factor. Personally I'd choose the F22B.

why dont you get the F23A it has more torque http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30037and its a younger engine than the f22b and its cheaper. i have this motor on my daily acura CL 2.3 and it really realiable even with 265,000 miles on the engine it still runs strong

The F23A has the most torque true but the head design isn't as good as the F22A or JDM F22B. And I think he's looking for a motor with more of a performance edge.

The F23's head design is far better than the F22b1 (Which is the OP's choice at the moment) and almost up to par with the F22a.

To get 155whp from a f22b1 you're going to need more than bolt on's i can asure you that. The jdm f22b,f23, or f20a would be my choice's.

F/h23 and its better to have a somewhat lower flowing head for what he wants. He needs a head cammed around for low rpm VE.

I did a post on someone else asking similar questions. The objective you are looking for is to make as much tq as possible without going over 155whp right? Use intake and exhaust to choke down an engine that makes too much power.

The f22b1 is a good engine for what he wants. The f/h 23 would be better. Use 1.75" exhaust to keep peak hp down, and a stock air filter if your hp gets too high.

Are you going to swap the pistons out for high compression ones?

Didn't plan on pulling it apart. Plus the level 2 cam is making about 150whp in the f22b1. But yes max torque and not exceeding 155whp. If I can I want to lose more weight too

Just wanna throw it out there, torque wins races hp sells cars.

In science terms "work done over time" is the term in relation to torque. Torque being the "work done" and hp being "over time" or how quickly that work can be duplicated.

To put it bluntly, hp is not the actual power. It is a measure of power.

Op, f22b1 will be great for what you want.
