    Technical Question

O.K so when my car was broken into they cut a whole bunch of wires from the wiring harness behind the dash and ever since then my car hasn't started. So I had it towed to a garage.
The garage has had it for a while and what they have done is wire my fuel pump up to a toggle switch and I believe by doing so they by-passed the main relay and the ecu and pretty much everything. So now I'm wondering if this is safe? I just spoke to someone else and he thinks that I should have just went to a junk yard and wire up a whole new harness.
So now I have a car that starts, but I dont know if it's safe and another problem that is happening is that my blinker lights are not working properly.
Could this be a result of perhaps having everything hooked up to the fuel pump and by-passing the main relay?
I'm awefully confused and I need some advice!

Your friend is right. Go get a new cabin harness, and just replace it. It won't be easy, but it will be better in the long run. Much better.

Might be worth it to you to just go to the JY and cut connectors off of a car there, and then solder them in to yours. Probably the same amount of time spent, but you won't have to tear your dash apart.

That's the problem...time, it's a pretty big job and the car has already been at this garage for a while...if I would have thought of the wiring harness to begin with I would have been better off, but now the car starts, but the wirings all fucked up...FUCK I HATE THIEFS

So just wondering if the problem with the blinkers can have anything to do with by-passing the main relay? I guess everything could be messed up because the harness is not being used, right?

If the theives knew what they were doing they would have only cut the ignition switch loom. About $80 new from the dealer
Did they put the switch in to get everything running, or as a theft preventer?

                  FWIW:
Looks like it goes from the ignition switch -> fuse box -> turn signal switch, and from there it goes to the turn signal relay, and then to the lights.

I'd imagine that if the shop wasn't too familiar/didn't have a diagram like this, then they might have not have gotten the connection from the fuse box to the switch.

Do your hazard lights work? If they do, then the problem has to be between
                  1. the fuse box and the turn signal switch
                  2. The switch and the relay

I'm thinking a test light will be handy.
