    Flex Pipe

    I have a stock F22 with a Greddy catback.
I had it installed a few weeks ago and the mechanic says that I will need a new flex pipe soon. Are there different brands of flex pipes? Does it matter? Or do I just buy a generic one? Does greddy make one for a 90 4dr? Thanks for the help ppl

the flex pipe is a section of pipe on the b-pipe(what attaches to the header). That allows for the engine to move and the exhaust not to have to. Heres a pic of one i sold. The mesh section is the flex pipe. I am sure a muffler shop could cut and weld a new one in for not much although i havent done it before.

it shouldnt be too expensive nor a problem for a muffler shop

what exactly did the mechanic say was wrong with your current one? (just out of curiosity)

My guess is that the mesh stuff is falling apart or the inner stuff is coming apart and making an exhaust leak. I went to a couple muffler shops and they were like.. we dont weld stuff like that(when i wanted to get a new flange). Im like how hard can it be. But it really shouldnt cost much. I cant wait to buy a welder.

My DC needs a new flex pipe before it can be put on. I was quoted 150 for a new flex pipe welded on, along with messing with the O2 sensor placement and install of the header itsself with gasket. So its not something I'd be worried about.

That is exactly what he was saying. So my guess is that you don't just buy a flex pipe.........you have to buy an all new down pipe with O2 sensor and all that jazz. He was saying that it was gonna cost quite a bit. Like $500 or 600. Yikes!
OK lets go with that thought then.......if I need a new down pipe (with flex included) where does one shop for these? I mean you can get headers and catback systems and for some lucky ppl even full systems, but what about for us unfortunate.....what goes between? Just generis shyt?

What do I have to do to peel it from your fingures?
                  How old is it?

well just pm me with an offer, ill consider anything. all i know is that it already has a flange and o2 bung... which will save you alot in parts and labor costs.

and ive had it on for less than a year for sure, dont remember exactly when i got it done. its actually from a h22 dc header, but the length and flange is the same. it bolted directly up to my accord cat/exhaust when i put it on... so no worries.

shit. for $600 u can buy the sportive headers with a nice 2.5 exaust system. and can put everything together.

Does the header assembly include the flex pipe and O2 sensor location?
