    glove compartment rattles

does anyone have the same problem. it also won't turn the light off when it closes. i have taken it off to see if it was lined up properly and it still rattles and the light stays on. i guess i could try using some dynamat but that wouldn't fix the light problem. any advice?

my car does the same thing. but only when its at idle. the glove compartment just rattles and i looked at it and i couldnt figure it out. its still like that so i need advice on this too. as for the light, there should be some kind of pin or button that gets pushed in when the door closes. if the pin is snapped or the button is stuck that could be your problem. hope that helps.

To get the light to turn off, tighten the 2 screws on the back of the latch. That will do a lot to help the rattle and light. They've been known to come loose.

Right, my latch comes loose at times, two little screws.

Also, on the sides of the box itself, where it fits into the dash, there are two large round pegs. They have splined, rubber caps that go around them. I noticed mine had split and fallen off.

I've had two CB7's and both of them had a problem with the glove box light/not shutting all the way. I guess I'll try to find a stubby little screwdriver to tighten with, cuz I tried before and couldn't get it to work(with a fullsize).

thanks for all the tips, but i figured out what was wrong with it. the metal latch that hangs down from the dash was slightly bent. it was impossible to tell it was bent, but i tried everything else and nothing helped. took a pair of pliers and bent it down about a 1/4 inch and now the light goes out and it barely rattles at all. don't know if that's the problems you all have been having but give it a try.

i used some sorta black sticky foam insulator shit , and put it around the glove box.... helped for awhile, started rattling again, but not nearly as bad.

also if you put alot of heavy shit in the glove box it wont rattle haha

Just today my glove compartment started rattling.
It was right after i got off I-95......i was prolly doing 85-90 mph.....
then when i was at the ramp taking my exit, i hear this rattlling coming
from the glove box. It sounds like a loose screw or something .
Does anybody have a step by step of taking out the glove box?
i know there is like 4 visible ones, then i cant do the rest.
I want to know of tightning the glove compartment would make it better.

I completely tore my apart the other day, and nothing was loose, and there is NO way to tighten it. For some reason Honda didn't make the latch adjustable. Don't waste your time, it's a pain in the ass. I think I'm going to try bending it, like the post above says.

look underneath the glove compartment... literally the view your knees or shins would have of your glove compartment. there is a tab on each side of the glove compartment, and there are 2 screws in each tab. tighten those up, and the glove compartment should be tightened and stop rattling, or at least the rattling minimized.
