    car overheats.

ok here it goes. my car overheats. the fans work etc. but i lose some colant. not a lot but i still lose some. i don't know from where. there are no leaks in the car. but here is what i noticed. while my car was on i noticed that on the white container next to the raidoator<<<<< the water was kind of boiling??? or there were lots of bubles.
then i turned off the engine and put my ear next to the radiator cap. i think that i hear the water boiling in there.
so why is my car overheating and the coolant boiling????

its like if i let my car seat its gona overheat. if i dirve it then its gona cool down?

so what do u guys think.

Okay there are a number of things that can make your car overheat.

    1) messed up or worn out thermostat.
    2) bad coolant hoses
    3) messed up headgasket
    4) bad radiator resevoir cap not sealing properly
    5) overfilled radiatior int he radiator fluid you must have tipped it off too much overfilling it.
    6) fans not activating as soon as they should but i dont think this is the problem
    7) coolant temp switch

Are you losing oil aswell does the coolant look a little milky brown?

it can also mean you radiator is a little messed up does the radiator leak or have any holes in it does it look eatin up really bad that happen to my moms jeep cherokee b4.

        hmm

truthfully, it sounds like a head gasket, is you coolant brown by any chance? Air is getting in to the system from somewhere, check the bleed nipple on the top if the thermostat housing make sure its tight too .

the thing is that everything works fine. i haven't had any oil lost or anyting like that. the fans work. all the lines seem ok. the thermostat was replaced about 6 months ago when i first started to have this problem.

the thing is that sometimes it smells like colant burning. but there is no white smoke or any kind of smoke from the exaust. i open the hood to check and see if there are any leaks and nothing.

i have noticed that sometimes the fans don't come one when the car overheats.
and while the car is overheating,,, i put on the AC and the car is gona stop overheating. but it won't cool down.
then i see the bubles on the white container and hear someting coming from the radiator cap(which was replaced by the way)

but once i start driving the car is gona cool off.
tomorrow i am gona take that thing that u check for compresion lost on the cooling system (maybe i have a whole somewhere)
and buy a thermostat from honda dealer.

That happened to me before, and I thought it was the thermostat. I replaced that and still didn't work. Headgasket was fine, no white smoke from the exhaust. Car would overheat on standstill and cool down when driving. Have you change your waterpump lately? Waterpump might not be working properly anymore. When they pulled my waterpump out, the fins on the pump were all gone.

I have This Same Problem The Only Thing Different Is That, That The White Bottle Beside The Radiator, Directly In Front Of The Battery, Is Empty. When I Come To A Complete Stop, Steam starts coming from under the hood, and the temp meter is a 1/8 from the ''H", Not To Seem Stupid Or Anything But What Goes In That Container?

dude are you talking about the colant reserve? if that it it should have antifreeze in there! If you look on the side it will say min and max, put a mixture of 50/50 in there. THATS WHY YOUR CAR IS OVERHEATING........ IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY COOLANT?

The overflow tank being empty doesnt neccesarily mean it doesnt have coolant. Im sure it does. But since you are saying it is boiling, and nothing else is wrong... when was the last time you flushed the radiator? Sounds to me like you have a mix of too much water. I would drain the whole thing, fill it up w/water, run it for like 30 seconds(to get all the extra out), then drain that, and refill with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.

Also, when you refill it. Open up the bleeder screw thats on the thermostat housing(where the lower rad. hose goes to) and add the antifreeze till it comes out of there w/no bubbles. then close it and add more. Then start it up, and add more until it is topped off.

                              clogged thermostat...easy like that.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
