    grindage

hmmm, any help here on this?

when driving normally, 2nd to 3rd is decent and smooth...

when going hard, 2nd to 3rd....it just makes a loud grinding noise and harsh vibrates the shifter....

    what could this be?

    Manual trans - Syncros worn.
Rebuild or replace unfortunatly. You can try changing the fluid, but it will more than likely only put the problem off a for a little longer.

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

Seems to be a common honda problem. Both trannies in my car have done the same thing. My solution is to not shift hard. lol

I have the same problem. I have to slow shift from 4 to 5 or it will grind. Has to be the synchies cuz all the other gears shift fine. I am going to see it there is a bearing and seal kit at Honda Im just going to get all that I need for a full rebuild, and replace all the synchies, all the bearings, and reclearance everything. I cant complain I guess. I got 223,000 mile on it. Its probably going to be expensive, but not as expensive as letting it go til you shave a gear or crack the case.

Usually i just let off it for a second before shifting into third. I am going to look into a new tranny though. rebuilds are too expensive
