Unplugging the IACV is a diagnostic only, you can't really live with it being permanently disconnected from the ECU because it causes side affects that are a pain in the arse. If you unplug the IACV then you will get a CEL, as well as rather harsh on / off throttle characteristics (that are I think associated with the way in which the ECU cuts fuel injection on the overrun).Originally posted by moetan View Postwhen you block the iac did you have a check engine code?
If you leave the IACV plugged in but blank off the air passages between the IACV and the plenum then you get none of this 'misbehaviour'. In this case the ECU doesn't 'know' that the IACV isn't working because it still is (though to no affect) and so doesn't trigger a CEL (even if the ECU does 'know' that the idle speed isn't within spec when it drops due to auxilliary engine loads caused by AC etc etc).Last edited by johnl; 08-02-2009, 08:23 AM.Regards from Oz,

Did you reset the base idle and the ECU after you installed the Skunk2 manifold?
Edit*
Also make sure every gasket surface is completely clean. (manifold 2 head & throttle body 2 manifold) All traces of the old gasket must be removed in order to make a proper seal.Last edited by GhostAccord; 08-02-2009, 09:33 AM.

Also, use a non hardening gasket sealing compund on all the gaskets (such as Loctite's 'Aviation Gasket No 3', or similar).Originally posted by GhostAccord View PostAlso make sure every gasket surface is completely clean. okay, got the skunk2 put back on. went through everything hella careful. Blocked off the fitv, and iac. left the iac plugged in but tucked it away to avoid a cel. with all that done it ran good but idled crazy low so I made a plate to go between the tb and the intake and turned the idle up a bit. No cel and it runs great. I tried to put a 15 ohm resistor in line but no luck there. My next project is to find a way to eliminate the iac all together and get some of the wiring tucked away. thanx for all the help guys.Last edited by moetan; 08-02-2009, 11:44 PM.
