CEL codes 01, 12, and 43... how do I fix

01 is my oxygen sensor... sucks as I just replaced it (admittedly w/a used one... worked for a little bit)

12 is my EGR system... gonna check that out

43 is the fuel system... admittedly I'm prob well overdue for a fuel filter change.

Car has decent performance but really guzzles gas. My setup is an A1 with an H23 IM, A6 header, 2.5 exhaust w/cat + resonator + stockish 2.5" muffler, WAI if that means anything. New timing belt and water pump and all that silly shit from what I remember.

What can I do to get rid of these codes? Car is fine until I'm on the highway for about 15 minutes

The o2 sensor can cause 1 and 43. Best bet on the EGR is just get a block off plate and have an ecu chipped to not look for the EGR. Or just run to the junkyard and get another EGR. Or it needs to be cleaned out. Im sure you might be due for a fuel filter too.

Bah I'm not really trying to spend money on a chipped ECU right now unless I can find a P06 for cheap (like $50)...

I have some stuff laying around consisting of that.

Try another, preferably new o2 sensor and see what happens. Wouldnt hurt to get another fuel filter.

the bosch sensors fail on our cars. it is a flaw in the design that hasn't been resolved i believe. i had the same CELs and changing the sensor solved it. get a Denso or NTK. they're both OEM.

Like a dumbass I bought the Bosch.... still have codes but only when I first start the car; if I turn it off and turn it back on the codes all clear. ARGGGGHGHGHGHHH

code 43 for fuel system is for the oxygen sensor. it sounds liek you might be getting a bad ground or a couple of wires might be fucked considering the o2 and egr are all around the same area.

i got that code in a civic when the car was under really high load but the complaint was rich smell and bad idle quality due to it being so rich.

I have had exact same codes, they link changing the o2 sensor to a good one oem style like denso or, ngk will most like sort all 3 out. Worked for me anyway

My guess is that you should fix the EGR issue first, it might eliminate the others.

Personally, I like to just block off the EGR valve, keep your emissions/black box fully connected and you will not get EGR CELs. I like that it prevents having to deal with hassle of EGR port cleaning. Reset ECU after this.

If your other CELs persist, you know what to do to knock them out.

Will blocking off the EGR valve compromise my ability to pass emissions though?

I don't know man, don't deal with that crap around here.

I know I still get great gas mileage on my DD with it blocked off (F22a4 with PT3 ECU), like 32-33 MPG. Test drive it, if you get good gas mileage, then hit up the testing.

Your O2 sensor may still be bad.

                            I should clarify.

About a month ago, I got a 90% tune up (no fuel filter) and replaced the O2 sensor. Gas mileage is up and the motor pulls a lot stronger from idle. However it was a Bosch sensor, so I think something is funky with the heater circuit; if I start the car cold I get a CEL, but if I start the car after it's reached operating temps there's no CEL. It runs the same either way.

                              did you seriously ask that?

If i use a butt plug, will it compromise my ability to fart?
