    O2 sensor is stuck!

So, I did a full tune up on my CB and I'm down to the O2 sensor. I bought a O2 sensor wrench and I still cant get it off! I sprayed it with W-D40 and it wont budge. I'm starting a new job in boston and i have to commute 1 hour and my CEL is throwing a 41. Shes backfiring and spuddering at idle, but when warmed up she runs OK...just alittle hesitation.

How the eff do i get this thing out!!

PB blaster, tap it a couple of times, let it sit over night, slip a cheater bar over your socket wrench and muscle that whore out.

I already sprayed the eff out of it, and i had a 2 foot long cheater and broke a Craftsman 3/8 wrench!!!

I dont want to strip it, and i think breaking my Craftsman wrench is telling me that i will if i try any harder. I tried it when it was hot...not a good idea...burned my dam hand.

a 3/8? man up and get 1/2 or 3/4. Never use a 3/8 on anything larger than 3/4. Metal only has so much strength. You're only other option is taking it to a shop and having them pop it loose for you. PB blaster pwns wd-40 for freeing up rusted parts.

I was skeptical about the 3/8 too, but it was the only one i could find around me. The had one that needed a 6 point wrench and it looked like the deep socket type was better.

Im calling my shop right now to see how much its gonna cost. I had a feeling this was gonna be a b*@#!

              this

wd40 is good for some things but not breaking loose stuck bolts

I had the same problem with an original O2 sensor in a 210k mile Integra. No matter how hard I tried and what I done, I couldnt get it out. PB blaster wasnt enough and neither was the heat. I finally had to replace the manifold with one a friend gave me and I had to go about it that way. But my honest opinion is if its really wooping your ass, just take the manifold out, and start fighting it until it comes loose. If all else fails, take it to the machine shop, or get a junk yard manifold. Im sure somebody has one laying around for free......

WD40 is a lubricant, but not a penetrant. Get some PB Blaster. It actually penetrates and loosens rust, and other metal oxidation.

i used a pretty hefty pipe wrench and a cheater bar... you dont break pipe wrenches on O2 sensors. but you may destroy the sensor your removing.

edit: of course after spraying with PB blaster, that is a given when ever removing a stuck anything.

No penetrating fluid will help free up an O2 sensor....
The only thing you can try with out a torch is to start you car and leave it in park (or neutral and ebrake on) and hold the rev up around 3k for a good 4-5 mins and then try to crack it free while it's still good and hot.

when i swapped my o2 sensor over to a Megan header, i used an adjustable wrench and kept tapping it with a hammer up against a wall. I used Liquid Wrench to break it loose.

Wow, adjustable wrenches are usually terrible for anything like that!

PB Blaster worked on mine, and from reading some of these posts, I'm not the only one.

Yup PB blaster, O2 socket, ratchet and a 10ft pipe. Clamp the manifold in a vice, and crank on it till the sensor turns out. Always worked for me.

WD40 doesn't do shit. Its for housewives to lube door hinges and picture frames and whatever. Not for heavy duty derusting
