I screwed up... Now im facing a consequence....

So, last night, i totally forgot to roll up my windows when i got home. i went out this morning, to find 1/2 of water in my car, interior drenched, and everything soaked head to toe.

the only thing that didn't get wet was my glove-box, and my Ipod (THANK GOD!)

Ive started cleaning it (holy hell, that's a clean carpet now!) and removed all the water i can with a shopvac, doing it over and over every little while, trying to get the smallest bit more. I managed to get everything just about cleaned up, and the car has started, with no blown fuses.

    However....

My turn signal switch has started to make a clicking noise, as if the TSS was activated in the position of up or down, yet its in the middle. But it seems faster then normal. after about 20-30 clicks, it goes away. turn off the ACC, turn it back on, it comes back. Anyone have an idea of what this might be? If i have to go rip out a TSS on sunday, i will, but its a last resort (last i recall, they are easy to pull out anyways).

Thanks in advance... Try not to have too much fun with my stupidity.

PS: The consequence in question, is if i cant get it fixed properly, it goes to insurrance compound, and they write it off... I dont wanna do this, cause i know i can get at least two more seasons out of the Accord... Then im going to be looking for my next car.

Ouch, sorry to hear. What it sounds like is the turn signal relay in the underdash fuse compartment got wet and isn't making proper contact or shorting out. Unfortunately, I don't remember off hand the size or how many prongs but it should be on the bottom row of relays (right above the fuses) on the very left. I *think* it said turn signal relay right on it but don't quote me on that. It's been a while since I changed one.

    EDIT

I just remembered something. With the key turned to II, try activating the signal. You should be able to feel the buzzing by placing your finger on the relays. Which ever relay is buzzing is the one that needs to be replaced.

I would go ahead and replace the whole fuse panel or at least set it out in the sun to dry out really good. It must have been one hell of a down pour if it got that far. But yea try that and see what happens.

Fuse panel was the only thing that didnt get hit in the process of all this. I guess it was just enough out of the way that the wind didnt get anything on it. Now im just waiting for the rest of the interrior to dry up.
I did get around to checking that Relay for the turn signals, it appears to be fine, it didnt get hit. Im guessing it was just humidity build up in the car from the day it happened (didnt take the car to work - just rolled up the windows, and left it in the driveway)

I can say for sure now, my car is hella clean. the carpet has NEVER been this clean before. I definitly wont do it this way again though!

Let everything dry THOROUGHLY. I would disconnect the battery to ensure no power is even going to them. Electronic stuff can often survive getting wet as long as it's not powered on until it's dry. Since you did turn it on, things may be damaged.

Everything under the dash stayed completely dry, As well as the passenger side. It looks like most of the water was in the driver side, which has little to no electrical on that side (other then the fuse box, which didnt get wet.

Ive pulled the seats out, cleaned the carpet under it, then wiped everything else down. Everything that has a cover on it, was fine. Even if something goes wrong, ive made a claim with insurrance. I have my claim put on hold while i find out how much damage there is.

Oh welll, at least out of all this i got a positive result... My carpet is now extremly clean!

That sucks, it sounds like you got most of the water out. I would unplug the battery like deev said. I'd probably run an extension cord out to the car, and put a big box fan in there, till your sure all the carpet/interior is dry, otherwise your carpet/car could develop a moldy/mildew smell.
