        you can fail for that but if it is an automatic then the tech can just put it in gear and run the test.

        check for vac leaks and adjust timing. run premium gas.

          Just heard about this in a different thread. Try running acetone/fuel system cleaner through it. Wait until you get really good gas mileage then take it in.

          37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
          30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
          27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

            I went to from 640 (1st test) to a 524 (2nd test), being max 490 on my NOX. Im geting there but need to get better towards 490.
            I set the base iddle speed and base ignition, Seafoam an entire can in the brake booster line, and drop another Seafoam can in the gas tank and went at half a tank with chevron supreem gas. Im gonna drive that puppy tomorrow morning till I hit the Big E and then I went to Home Depo and got a gallon of DENATURED alcohol to drive upt to the test station whie its nice and hot. Take note, this my first attempt using DENATURED alcohol, if got the idea from another post. Im desperate here, anyone tried this yet?
            I will post up my results tomorrow.

              whats your ignition timing again? fuck, your o2 is super high, the cat needs to use more o2 ....warm that shit up like 3k in the parking lot while you are waiting. a good smog tech will warm it up right before the test.

                Fucken smog is Tttttttting me off. Retested for a third time today and failed, but in a good way, if there is such a thing. Got two cans of Seafoam, one in da brake booster and other in the gastank and filled half with Chevron Supreem gas. Ran that half tank to "E" 4 empty, and then drop a gallon of DENATURED alcohol in the tank. Allow me post up all three results and take it from there.
                1st test - Failed 15MPH

                      Did u clean out egr ports? Check for exhaust leaks. Valve adj.? New ign components like plugs, rotors, cap? That's my suggestion. Those are just basic too. Sounds to me either your cat or O2 is going out. Good luck.

                        been there done that, to all of the above. trip the tcu to limp mode and got a 43. o2 sensor, went to auto parts this morning and and got a new one, went with denso. car is in my drive way at the moment and will smog it for a 4th time today. I will post up.

                          I found my suction pump, and suck the egr, and the car shut off. So I assuming my egr is hold suction.
                          My last option here is to retard my timing, its at 16 dtc, and need to go back abit to 15 or possibly 14. Do you think this will get my NOX down, its only 18 points? Going back for fith test on Monday morning.

                              you need to go to someone who will warm the cat up prior to the test. there shouldnt be any o2 remaining, only for air injection equipped cars.

                              or get a new cat...you are paying for so many smogs, you couldve just got a new cat and be done with it.
