    Speedometer not working

So yesterday I ended up buying a new VSS, even though I just replaced it back in March, and still my speedometer wasn't working. My questions are: What are some possibilities that could be causing this?
Does the O2 sensor have any correlation with the speedometer? asking cause I swapped out my chipped p28 ECU for a regular H22 ECU to see if I had a faulty ECU, had a check engine light w/ the stock ECU not the p28 (code 41) primary oxygen sensor heater.

My next step towards resolving this issue is replacing the O2 sensor if it's the same thing as the code was throwing. If not I read it could be a chip on the motherboard for the speedometer and the only way to fix it is replace the whole speedometer, is this right? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know oxigen sensor has nothing to do with VSS...... now did you replace the sensor or the whole piece that goes in the transmission??

you didnt loose the little pin that goes into the vss did you? and also make sure you didnt mistakingly some how mix the vss plug up with the egr one, i did that when i had my f22b and never check those but they look the same.

The drive link was in there, but I'm pretty sure its hooked up to the right connector.

Does cruise control or the odometer work? If these work, it is not the VSS (cruise and odo use the VSS signal). If you have a wiring diagram, you can disconnect the cluster behind the switches on the left side of the dash and access the pins for the speed signal. Jack up one wheel, turn the ignition to "on" (you don't need to start the car), then rotate the wheel by hand. You should see the voltage change from 0 to 5 to 0 to 5 .... as you rotate the wheel.

It could be the speedo itself, or a problem in the cluster. My wagon has a frankencluster, the printed circuit board was corroded, ruining the circuit to the speedo and odo. Replaced it with a sedan board, but then had to put a 130 mph speedo in to display speed correctly.

So I was driving today while it was pouring & while CAI sucked up some water and my car shut off. I was able to get it started after half an hour and my speedometer started working again all of a sudden. Took for a spin later and was able to floor it for a change. I don't know what the hell was wrong w/ it but hopefully it stays like this.

i am having the same problem. i replaced the whole piece! sensor and the piece that goes in the tranny. no luck. i did try to remove the black dash piece, removed the screws holding it, but still did not want to come off. so i played it safe and left it alone. idk what it could be

I had a unique problem. For some reason the connector for my VSS came apart or I lost this white piece that resides inside that separates the pins. Mine was intermittently working until I realized that the connector was missing this white plastic divider for the pins.

I'm thinking that some of the wires were shorting or grounding out on one another causing the VSS to be nonoperational. I simply found another connector and transplanted that white piece to my connector and it works fine now.

So double check yours to see if your connector is missing any pieces, because that might just be your problem. I went through 3 VSS before I realized that it was this. Luckily They were all JY ones and only cost me 10 bucks for my efforts.

Pull your cluster and look for burned out contacts on the back of the board. I have the same issue right now, and its my cluster.
