    belt wearing on timing cover

Today while I was tearing everything down to get to my water pump, when I took my tb covers off I notice where it looks like the belt has been rubbing on the inside of the cover. Shocked, I checked my timing belt for indications of wearing. It didn't look like it had been wearing long because the belt looked normal.

Is this a sign of a bad belt tensioner? I'm on a budget but I don't wanna have to do this again any time soon.

This is common and well-documented on here. From what I can gather no one has a definitive answer as to why this happens. What seems to be happening is that the heat causes the cover to flex and there's not much room so it almost immediately gets in the way of the pulley.

There's one place on the top cover and another on the bottom cover.

Well that's good I guess. The belts were all tight so it kinda threw me off.
