    Performance Torque Converter

I'm currently evaluating torque converters for my H22A4 swap and JDM LSD autotransaxle.

    I'm thinking I should buy a Protorque PTC-HO15SS

I will upgrade transmission fluid cooler also.

Has anyone else gone down this route? I'm not looking for a drag strip setup, just for street and autox.

Auto isn't really worth it, yes with a LSD it can be somewhat fast.
But it's much better to do a manual swap, you will have much more fun.

Anyways to answer your question. To the best of my knowledge Level 10 makes the best performance torque converters for our cars. It's $500 though, if you send yours in to be machined then it's $400.

Thank you, woo hoo first thread in Performance Tech sub section that is not a sticky! Cool!

Level10 uses Protorque converters I believe.

BTW, I'm building a TCU box for my automatic transmission. I have owned many manuals and they are strong, simple, and bullet proof. BUT I really want the option to let the car do the thinking and get better economy in traffic or switch over to paddle shifting for me to chose the performance. I'm still a bit out though on getting what I want. But time and energy are nothing for the love of a CB7 improvement.

BTW, auto transmissions can still put a hurting on a manual transmission if done correctly.

Anyone use Hughes, JMO, or TCI or any other brand?

Cost is no problem, I'm going custom so I'm not concerned with cost. My estimate from protorque is around $750+shipping with transmission fluid cooler.

I may take my TC to a junkyard and compare to a Mitsu tiptronic TC or Acura RSX shift-tronic TC and see if they are swappable as a lower cost solution.
