    Head/intake change

So I should get my valves and guides today. Thanks wes. I should get the head back from the shop friday. So this weekend I plan to change the head/intake and cam.
I have h23 intake, a6 cam and springs, redone head new bronze valve guides, polished the intake and exhaust ports(just shined them up nothing fancy) OS valves, supertech seals.
Parts I have. Felpro headgasket, ARP head studs, Bisi intake gasket, New exhaust manifold gasket, new fuel injector seals, and plenum spacer gaskets. New water neck gasket(the thing in the front that the upper hose attaches to, new ecu, wire, sodering gun, timing belt kit, water pump, coolant, some new hoses( I just replaced most about a month ago).factory service manual. camshaft seal.
I have already swapped the a4 manifold.
This will be sort of temoporary until I get the cam and springs and rebuild the bottom end.

This will be my first attempt at this.

Is there anything I am missing?

    Thanks

    steve

I assume you have a pin for the ECU to hook up the IABs also?

Don't forget the lower plug well seals too! They won't come with the valve cover kit, so be sure to grab them from a dealer. 91301-PT0-003

Might as well pick up a phenolic intake gasket from Bisi while you're at it, . Oh, haha! I suppose I should have read a little better the first time; I see it there now!

You list "timing belt kit" and "camshaft seal" separate; what all comes with the timing belt kit? Replace the left balance shaft seal, make sure it has the retainer too. Also replace the front oil pump gasket, which is a gasket that goes between the oil pump and the right balance shaft mechanism. Grab the front crankshaft seal as well, and make sure the kit has an o-ring for the oil dip stick tube. This would also be a good time to replace the vacuum hoses if you're unsure of their condition. I think I spent about $12 at NAPA on a length of hose enough to do the whole A1 bay, including the A6 mechanism, cruise control, and the diaphragm on the intake before the filter.

If you order the valve cover kit it will come with the o-rings, if you order just the gasket it won't. I have never gotten a kit without the spark plug well o-rings.

I think we're referring to different things. The valve cover kit usually comes with gaskets that are cylindrical and have a flat face on them as well. These actually seal against the cover and the tops of the rocker assembly. There are also O-rings that go between the rocker assembly and the cylinder head, which are the parts I was referring to. Perhaps you do indeed mean what I mean, but I was pretty sure the valve cover kits don't come with those, but rather the gaskets as mentioned.

Yes I have the pins for the wire to plug into the ecu. I have a valve cover set. Felpro and I must say it fit better than the last one I had. This one actually stays put. I do have a crankshaft seal as well. I already placed the lower plug seals on the rocker arm.

              Steve

The timing belt kit is gates. Water pump tensioner idler and the belts.
My IAB box the valve was bad so I plan on using the valve from the stock air box I recently removed when I installed my SRI. I assume it will work.
I do need 2 screws for the double stack mod. I think they are 8x1.25 x 100?

Oh and I'm changing the rear motor mount while everything is out.

Nope same things, the aftermarket kits like FelPro come with 8 o-rings and the valve cover seal, from Honda it is a different story though. I have yet to run across an aftermarket kit that didn't include the lower well seals.

                @Steve:
You mean rear main seal right? The front one is an oil pump. If you are going to do this work you might as well get an oil pan gasket as well.

What valve are you referring to? The one bolted on the side of the IAB?

Use A/C bolts for the double stack mod, some accord some prelude. Or threaded rod cut to length with a nut on top of the plenum.

There it is! I picked up a Honda kit, and I don't recall the other kits I briefly reviewed coming with the O-rings. Thanks for the correction; so wise!

I have the ac bolts from an accord. But I can't find any prelude ones. It's prob easier for me to just buy some from fastenal.

Last time I checked fastenal they were special order and I was impatient so I just used threaded rod.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I thought I was just going to walk in pay and leave.

Where did you get the rods from?

                          Fastenal...

If you cut them to size use a ban saw and make the cut as square as possible then use a mounted belt sander to true them up.

Unless you have a metric die set, then cut it and re-die them.

Cool. Yes I bought a metric die set just for this task. I was mainly thinking I would break the exhaust manifold studs and have to go bigger but that went fine.
