    Random periodic shaking going 50mph+

Just picked up a '92 coupe (stock), drove it home the other day and time to time... on and off I am experiencing shaking and hard vibration when cruising 55mph and above. Does not happen in local street driving. Spent an hour trouble shooting it on the freeway because it's on and off. Moments going 80mph it's smooth, moments later it's shaking. I feel it coming from under. Motor mounts are fine and engine is healthy. Felt like my CV boot or axles but checked them out and they are fine. Tires are balanced and good, no bubbles or lopsidedness. The clutch does not drop nor does the motor revs bog. Gears shift smoothly. Went under couldn't find anything wrong, went to two local mechanics, couldn't find anything wrong. I know definitely it has nothing to do with the engine or tranny.

They suggest I drive it till it starts to becomes a daily thing so we can get a better diagnosis.

But is there any heads up from you guys?

    Forgot to add,

I am assuming 226k on the chasis can call for bad drive shaft links? Thanks for any input!

Try to notice whether it happens more under load (or not), like going uphill vs. downhill. Does it primarily follow vehicle speed? Check wheel bearings, ball joints. Odd tire wear; it can point to suspension problems?
