    power steering fluid

Alright gonna finally buy some honda psf, the manual says about 2 litres for a complete change however the honda psf bottle comes as 12 Oz, so how many 12 Oz bottles do I need for a complete flush ?!

If I'm not mistaken, a 12oz can is .355 liters. If you're really changing all the fluid (disassembling and draining everything?), you would need 6 bottles which would give you 2.13 liters.

well I've been told that my steering rack is leaking cause the dust boot on the steering rack was torn and fluid was coming out of it. Frankly I used many types of oil other than honda psf and the last oil I used was the dexron III castrol

The rack is leaking because using the wrong fluid ruined it. Every seal in the system should be replaced.

I accidentally put dot3 in my cb7 and I think the rack is leaking now because of that.

I put ATF as mentioned, but I've heard here, that puting brake fluid will eat the seals !! it is better if you empty your power steering system ... RIGHT NOW !!!! GO GO GO GO GO GO !!!!!

If it is messed up...hit me up on a PM and I have the one I pulled out of my wagon...it always had Honda fluid in it. Just needs new seal kit. $20? Should cover shipping as it is a heavy SOB.

When I bought a new rack and pinion for my car, I think all I needed was 2 or 3 pints. I just bought the Autozone Honda approved PS fluid and I haven't had any issues. About 4 bucks a pint.

But having gone back in time to do it, I'd choose the Honda stuff since it can't be that much more.

The rack and pinion was about 212 at Napa w/ core with a lifetime warranty, but so far (3 yrs) it hasn't given me one issue at all.

Meant that as a warning to look well beyond the rack, very likely its leaking elsewhere, or will once the rack stops leaking.
