broke a bolt for the power steering ajustment

So I was trying to quit a squeek going on from the power steering belt, I guess there was pressure wrong and the bolt to the support (black part) snaped I want to know if I can drill that out and re tap and die it?

before you do any of that shit, post up a picture of the problem.

Usually you can drill a tiny little hole inside the snapped bolt and then use an extracting tool to remove the broken bolt. Im pretty sure I just saw a master tech do this about 2 weeks ago to a crank bolt.

The whole mounting bracket should come out of the engine bay for proper extraction of the broke bolt.

Thrilling. mabe it would be more up my alley to replace the whole peice. question is can with the power steering the alt the compressor off can it come out reasonably easy without pulling the engine?

You should take the little bracket off and see if you can get a drill down in there. If you can drill down the center of the bolt you can use an extractor to remove it. Maybe you can try removing the radiator for more room.

BTW, the bolt broke because that isn't the tension adjustment bolt. That is the bracket mounting bolt.

I don't think it'll be all that hard to remove the mounting bracket. You should be able to see those bolts holding the bracket onto the block once you remove PS pump and ALT. Note which bolt was installed on which hole as they are different in length, IIRC.

Mount for A/C compressor is separate from above two units, IIRC.

Removal of the broken bolt should be an easy job with an "EZ-out".

              Good luck
